Easter flights

Having waited until February last year to book our Easter flights, I was similarly laid back this year. Thought I would just check prices this morning - and lucky I did, because I just managed to grab four of the last six seats on the early morning (5.40) flight from Gatwick to Palma.

Which suggests that people are returning to Mallorca after a couple of quiet years... so if you want to go out at Easter and haven't yet booked flights, now might be the time to do it!

Kate that was lucky and good news for the island. I did read somewhere last week that things were looking much better this year but at the time i took it with a pinch of salt, hopefully this upturn will last all season.

I think that as Easter is late April this year then this may also have a bearing on it.
The last few years we have have come to PP the last week in April - I booked the flights in October as they came out with Easyjet.I did not realise at the time that it was Easter and I thought it odd that they didnt do the ususal early flight for that Saturday (it was 5:30pm but for all the other weeks it was back to 06:30 am) it was only later that i realised it was Easter weekend. I have now changed my booking to fly out on Good Friday at 06:30am
(that is another long story and ended up costing another £100 to change the flights but at least it means that i end up getting 2 extra days in PP as I would have lost the Saturday as would not have arrived in palma until 9:30pm )

Interestingly, CathB, this year we are actually flying out two weeks before Easter (to coincide with school holidays) - which does seem to suggest quite an early and busy start to the season if flights to Mallorca at the beginning of April are already selling out. I think what Sparky says just may be true - our villa bookings are already looking dramatically better than last year's - we need some good news after all the doom and gloom!
