Email notification.

Hi - I am new so can you just answer two questions? If I post a question on a forum thread do I get any notification of answers (similar to facebook) or just need to keep checking back on the thread? I can't remember the actual thread I asked the question on which I know sounds a bit daft! Also, I want to send someone a private message but when I click on their name it doesn't say "send message". Will this only come up when I have successfully posted twice after moderation?

Hi Jellybean and welcome to the forum. To recieve email notification of post replies you need to subscribe to the thread, to do this click on "User CP" scroll down to "Default Subscription Mode", click on the white box, select the option you wish to use and then scroll down to the bottom of the page to save the changes. You need to make 3 posts before you can send & recieve PMs. I hope this helps .

OR to 'subscribe' to a particular thread, once you're reading the thread, select 'Thread Tools', 'Subscribe to this Thread' & then select the Notfication Type e.g. 'Instant Notification By Email' & then make sure you click on 'Add Subscription'.

If you have replied to a thread, I think that you are automatically 'subscribed' to it unless you deselect it in Thread Tools.

You can List Subscriptions under 'User CP' (User Control Panel) & under 'Edit Options' you can define:

Default Thread Subscription Mode
When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
