Can anyone offer us reassurance, please, that Embat will be opening this season. We used to be able to peep a view of it on the PP webcam, but not now and we've picked up a note elsewhere that it is under question. A favourite watering hole of ours.

I am waiting to hear as well, I know they now run the bar at the sports centre now, but hope they will open the one on the beach as well!!

I sent them a message and have just heard back, they will not be opening until at least June, due to circumstances beyond their control

Thanks. Fingers crossed then. Embat is a great extra to the beach visit.

Embat is our favourite beach bar too - we love the guy who runs it and it has such a lovely relaxed vibe. I really hope they do come back.

Just posted on their FB page, new project for this season and there is an artist impression of tables and chairs on the harbour with boats in the background so sounds like they won't be back on the beach, which is a great shame

Indeed it is, but looking forward to visiting their new establishment.

I'm hoping then, that another enterprising person decides to take on the site with equally good service. There's plenty of space for customers between Tamarells and the bar near the jetty at Llenaire

My thoughts entirely, it's great to have somewhere to go for a drink and sit with your toes in the sand!!

It is T H E place for a large, iced, Kraken spiced rum cocktail.
Starting to shake even now at the unbearable prospect of forfeiting them!

Well it certainly would not be lack of trade that stopped someone taking it on. Whenever I passed or used it there was always plenty of customers.

Is this near the Cantina ?

Finding it difficult to place this area?

I think this is just an artist impression just to show what they are planning, I assume it would near the main car park, where all those wooden huts are, or may be on the area near Stay possibly?

I am amazed. The original site was always doing good trade. Beach visitors, strollers and guests from Uyal Hotel, Pollentia, Hobby etc frequented it. You couldn't easily get a table at midday. Kiddies could get their ices and play on the swings, slides, climbing frame nearby. Plenty of food was sold and I believe that has a better mark up than drinks.
The new location will probably "up" its prices, too.
There's still an established clientele at the original site for someone in the business. Jose Bony, can you hear me?

I think you may be right Lizzy, I have heard it will be at la Cantina, so right around the port near the refueling part!
Not sure it will have the right vibe there, here's hoping someone will open up another beach bar in the same location, I wish I could!!

It is probably to do with contracts. The beach bars etc are awarded contracts with an end date, so have to be extended or renegotiated. I read that they were hoping to hear re contract in June.

I Like that wee part

We now go to CANTINA for a drink quite a lot as we like the view looking back onto PP and watching the yachts come and go.

Another place opening might increase traffic flow for both places.

We have read elsewhere that authorities are removing beach bars (La Rocha will not be renewed after this season). What is their thinking? It does not appear to cause an environmental problem. There's been a suggestion that residents (?) have complained about the noise. The evening music shows at Embat were quite subdued; there was more sounds from Fergus Hotel and musicians performing in Pollentia/Uyal! I'm sure the beach bars provided an added attraction and facility to a beach day. Will the barrow fruit vendor be stopped as well?
We never saw irresponsible drinking and If true the daytime pursuits have dropped a few points for us.
