exchange rates

We are due to arrive in Pollensa on 20th May and intended to get euros using Nationwide debit card as we usually do from cash machine. But at the post office where I picked up a small initial supply of money on Thursday the rate was 1.113 so it looks like it is actually a better rate here for a change. Although not enough to make much difference to the overall holiday spend.

Hi all

We're in PP at the moment and using Nationwide card to draw money from the ATM's here and Nationwide Credit card for purchases. The highest rate so far was 1.13€ on Thursday for purchase with CC and anything from 1.10€ - 1.12€ at ATM's - pretty good I thought, considering the current economic climate.

The exchange booths/shops have rate of 1.107 today for notes and slightly more for travellers cheques. Halifax in UK still offering 1,076!!! perhaps I should withdraw my cash at the ATm's .

Are there any clever clogs on here who have any idea how the rate is going to go in the run-up to the summer holidays?

I wish - We would all be very wealthy people if we could predict monetary movements:rolleyes:

Sorry didn't mean to be sarcastic:)

Hoopy - I mentioned in another thread I think that a colleague who also imports to the UK forward bought euros from HSBC at 1.18 for July so they seem to think the rate will imrove over the next few months. At the moment the £ is fairly steady although it took a dive 2 days ago. As optimism recovers so will the £.

GG
