I want to plan next year's holiday around this as I've never been in PP at that time. Can anyone give me an approximate date please?

It is usually held in mid July but it is far too early for the powers that be to give exact dates, we can expect to get the timetable about a week before it happens .

Hi Sparky, thinking ahead to next year looks like Sue cant get the two weeks for the La Patrona off but the two weeks before instead, what are the chances of it falling when this fiesta is on?
Looking at the dates for July 2013, the Saturdays are 6th, 13th 20th and the 27th, la Patrona starts around the 26th so I assume it wouldn't be that late, or as early as the 6th. So guessing it would be either the week ending Saturday the 13th or 20th?
If it is the wife may get a reprieve for failing to get the same weeks we always have off next year, and we have never caught this fiesta so it would be a bonus.
What do you all reckon, I know they always leave it to the last moment to announce dates, but any guesses!!

It is always held mid July but i honestly wouldn't assume anything until the dates are confirmed, sorry i know it doesn't help you .

I was told a few years back (from a local) that the fireworks were always held on the sunday nearest the 16th July not sure if this is still true but we always seemed to catch the fiesta week when we visited then

We were told that too. Unfortunately there was a year where even the tourist office had 'guessed' the date & got it wrong. So the last day of the fiesta is likely to be the nearest Sunday to the 16th of July - but we can't be sure.

Party in the square

Was wondering if there was going to be a party in the square this year.it was great last year and much more family friendly than the ones on the beach.

I am sorry Pam but it is still far too early for the ajuntament to be making plans for July . It is the "Kings" tonight and the timetable was issued yesterday .

As we all know the decisions re dates are never logical

However last time July had Sundays on 14th and 21st was 2002 and the fireworks were on 14 th


From memory over the last 15 years they have always been between 14th and 20th ....... Except of course for the sad sad occasion in 2011 when there were none at all

I have got a little bit of info on the fiesta, this is not official (so please don't shoot the messenger) but i am told that "San Cristobal" will be on Saturday 13th July, then "Virgen del Carmen" will be in the following week culminating with the fireworks/demons/Batucada (as last year being paid for by various businesses from all over the Port) on Sunday 21st July .

OK sorry guys i think i will need to shoot my messenger .

I have just had phone call to confirm the dates and they are from the 6th July until the 14th July, the fireworks and parade will be on Sunday 14th.
Once again many of the local businesses will be paying for the fireworks have not got the full list yet but i do know that El Posito have contributed .

Sorry guys!! But that's great news for us Sparky - i took a chance and booked to stay an extra night in the hope that if the local businesses were good enough to fund the fireworks again, they would be on Sunday 14th. Missed them last year. SWS - hope to see you 13th/14th!
