I have just returned from the battle in Pollenca. Wow, what a day!

Some of those Mallorquians sure are crazy.

Anyone else there?

i was a moore in the battle. This year was a good one, the battle was done correctly, the shouts were at the right time, the charges were perfect. All and all a good festival.

moors and christians

I was told Joan Mas got his words wrong this year. Where he was supposed to give a glorious shout to urge the Polencins to battle, he got it wrong and his supporters and the crowd had to give the cry instead.
I'm sure it was enjoyable anyway

thats just people spreading stupid rumours...

Hi Nick and wob, we were there too, what a great day again. Looked out for you Nick, were you in a group of four people, in a purple top, I took hundreds of photos you must be in one of them. After watching the band go around the streets and push its way through the square and then seeing the Patrona brought out of the church and lead through the town with the children dressed up ands the dignitaries we headed for the square in front of the hotel Saint Jordi. This was a great place to see all the action from, you could look up the street to see the moors rushing up to the Christians before retreating back up the road. You could then see the whole thing as first the moors passed and then the fighting before finally the Christians passed and you could then follow them up the road. By the way arrived at the Saint Jordi square found a place looked next to me and saw it was Graham le Saux standing next to us with his wife and kids, he had a very expenses looking camera and seemed to be enjoying themselves. A great day, very hot but with many pomadas:)

We were at the Clivia that night and had lots of moors running past the windows shouting - it was very funny! The fireworks were fantastic.

Only nightmare was trying to get back to PP.
