Government just announced that there should be no non essential travel to Balearics now :(

Oh #%^&. What do I do now. Really want to apply for residency. Boris is really upsetting me.

Oh no -

UK Gov has this afternoon brought Mallorca etc into line with mainland Spain and is advising 'against' travel UK to Mallorca. Quote is -

"From 27 July, the FCO advise against all non-essential travel to Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks in the country".

That has a key impact on validity of travel insurance; plus the obvious impact on airlines, hotels etc etc.

Looks like our holiday is now scuppered (unless things change back again).

I'm really upset and at the same time I'm livid!!
It's an absolute mess! The way people are being treated is unforgiveable!!!

Its just such a mess. I've just seen a post on FB of a family's bags all packed for tomorrow morning just as the announcement was made! Now they'll have to unpack them.
I've moved my August flights to next year and think I'll just give up for the moment.
We arrived home Sunday morning and have done day 1 of quarantine and climbing the walls already! A week in PP is really not worth 2 weeks quarantine at home I'm afraid.

Then please have a thought for those who live over there and had to endure 3 months of being locked up, many without a garden while away the time outdoors.

I will be over in September whatever happens.

Luckily I am not obliged to remain in the U.K. after my return.

Good luck everyone in PP !

I absolutely understand what the locals had to endure Julian.

It is a total mess! I also understand about lockdown in Puerto Pollensa - we were at our apartment when lockdown was announced - our last meal was at Ca’n Cuarrassa on the Saturday night. Difference in quarantine in the U.K. on returning is that you cannot go out at all - not even to shop. We too have flights booked for September and we will watch what happens. I know travel insurance is invalid but the EHIC card covers emergencies.

It's a shame all round, I really feel for those affected by this.

I only booked our late August trip last week and went into it with my eyes wide open, so if it doesn't come to be, "que sera sera".

Well as I understood it would be their home address etc at least so that they could be monitored or whatever

The form you have to fill in before travelling asked all those questions.....although admittedly, no one seemed to check we had actually infilled the form!

I have just removed the last post because it's content does not help or inform .

We all know that this has become a total farce but please lets not start a political debate, this is not what this forum is for. thank you :).
