Well the sun is shining for them and it is warmer than it has been. I heard that the auction in Palms went very well last night and that 1000€ has already been raised......fantaaastic !!! :D.

Sponsored Dip for Breast Cancer

What an amazing event!

Over 30 women (and one bloke) eventually took the dip, but there must have been a couple of hundred supporters!
There were pink balloons everywhere, and a police escort from Bar Llenaire to the life-guard lookout (adorned in pink!), where the participants took the dip.
There was a drink and food on the beach afterward for the participants.

Thank you Nicky and Nickie for the organization, and thanks to Jo for being the inspiration for this great event.

Everybody had a great time and there were lots of laughs.

How much was raised? It's an "informed guess", but I reckon the participants raised over 5000€.

I second that and although the water was cold it was not as bad as I imagined and all I can say was many nipples were proud to be on show.

Very well done lolli. Everyone looked like they were thouroughly enjoying themselves, both participants and onlookers. The Video looks great, but we need those little arrows pointing out who everyone is!!
Has UATW emerged yet, or is she still swimming!!?? :eek:
 
Yes well done Lollipop and everyone who took part this morning. Tomorrow there is a sponsored walk to Lluc and back, starting at 10 am from Hardley's Diner. :D
 
Topless Dip

I have now emerged from the sea !!! :)

As Lollipop said it was freezing but the amount of support we got from everyone kept us warm in our hearts. I must admit that I shed a few tears when we let off the balloons but was overwhelmed by the amount of support we had from ex-pats and Spanish alike, as well as the Policia Locale for their chaparone with sirens wailing as we walked from Bar Llenaire to the lifeguard tower.

BD thank yor for posting the link - did you spot me in the pale pink shower cap - have a look again !! :eek: BD, also have to report that your bid last night was not successful but thank you SO much for your support.

Debz, I will keep your thoughts in mind as I walk tomorrow and thank you too for your support - it really does keep us going.

Well now I am off to soak my feet ready for the yomp to Lluc and back in the morning...more news to follow tomorrow night !!!! Happy trekking for tomorrow ladies.

Well done to all of you who took part for this worthy cause. You put me to shame as I am really unsure if I could put my body in that cold water.
Great to watch the video too. I'm going to take another look now to see if I can spot the pink shower cap! I'm sure the atmosphere was wonderful and encouraging.

It is amazing how quickly you get used to the cold water and when everyone is in such good spirits it warms the cockles of your heart !! :)
 
You did so well. AND I spotted the pink cap! lol

Hope you enjoy tomorrow too. You have put me to shame sitting here with my tv on, glass of wine by my side, all cozy in front of a log fire! A fantastic cause and I have decided to do my bit by getting involved locally in May!
 
What a great day the ladies were fantastic and I was amazed by the support. Surely this is the idea of community spirit. The weather was cracking too. some of us got a slight sun tan. The water was cold I did the big toe test, just to make sure it was safe to enter the water. Shame we didn´t have the theme tune to Jaws. Huge congratulations to all. Unfortunately I will not be on the walk tomorrow. Get the feet ready and enjoy a good old soak in the tub afterwards. Hopefully those that are walking there and back will return before sun set.

Can someone remind me how long this walk actually is and how long they are expecting it to take? Hubby is saying its impossible - but he is a couch potatoe!

I just looked at the map it's about 20km there and back and as for how long it will take i suppose it depends on how fit you are.:eek:

Just caught up with the photos on TOTN before they all left. Looks like organised chaos, but so much fun and enthusiasm going on. Are they back home yet??!!
 
I have seen some of them but they just did the walk to Lluc and got lifts back to the port. Aparently the expert walker who went with them felt it was a bit risky to carry on as they were running a bit late and he was worried that it could get damp and slippery and also it could have been getting dark which would not be good.
I hope those that did carry on have made it back safely.
