Gratuity

I was wondering if the Spanish add gratuity to the bill in any of the restaurants?
With everyone paying by card I fear they might miss out on tips. We always take extra cash out to cover this or pay all in cash but noticed a lot of people just settling on card with nothing left for the hard worked waiters ?
