Hi folks. I would be very grateful if anyone could advise me of the approximate annual none fuel related running costs of a 1.9 Litre diesel car valued at 2500 euros.

Insurance car tax and MOT for the year will be around the 600 Euro mark for the year maybe a little less. Its very simple to organise. But make sure car is Spanish registered.
If you are on the Island more than 5 weeks in the year and you normally hire a car it will pay for itself in no time. Use the Hoppa to get up and back from the airport and your car is waiting for you no waiting around at car hire desks or paying silly prices and insurance excess it really is very simple we did it years ago Hope that helps

Don´t forget that when you buy a car here you pay a tax based on the value of the car and its emissions. I bought a 1.9 diesel Opel Zavira here a couple of years ago. When you go to get it re-registered into your name they look up its original purchase price and reduce this by a set percentage based on its age and then apply the purchase tax to the final value. The tax is a %age based on the emissions - I think it is either 4% or 6%.
Also - always check that there are no outstanding bills attached to the car ie road, tax fines, hp, etc as in Spain the bills move with the car and are the responsibility of the new owner.

Thanks fil & Deanscroft. How do you re-register the car into your name ?
