HURRICANE DAMAGE

Hi, I was in PP in 2003 (I think). When was the hurricane and what damage was done? Were off again this year in June and am hoping no great damage was done to the famous Pine Walk.

Not sure how many years ago the hurricane hit but it's a few years back now..help someone?

Starting from The Sis Pins it cut a swathe and blew down a lot of trees. Ironically Sis Pins means 6 Pines and there is now only 1! From the start of Pine walk to about Hostel Bahia it then destroyed all the beautiful tress in its path.Some of these trees must have been hundreds of years old .They have planted new ones and they are doing quite well but unfortunately ,in our life times at least, will never replace what was there before

It was in (November?) 2002 so your visit must have been earlier than 2003!

We arrived in PP on 1 February 2003 and there had been a great storm the day before when even the airport had been closed.

My husband has photographs of 2 large trees lying on the ground at the Ses Pins at that time.
