We bumped into these guys in a bar - what a mad lot!!! Anyone know if they actually won their match? We were going home the day of the game and it was tipping it down with rain so don't even know if they actually played.

So is it right that they're in PP the same time every year to play the local team? I was kind of bummed out that we missed the match. I'll have to time it better next year.

Re: Football Result

Oh dear - they lost? Thanks Frito?
So do you know if this is an annual tradition then? Every Sept they play PP?

Re: Football Result

Yes it is an annual event but don't think dates for next september are finalised yet, however the PP team are going to Liverpool in february for return match i think. I read somewhere that the PP team are taking wives & girlfriends to Liverpool but the Ramblers won't allow women on their trip to PP.

Re: Football Result

Thanks Hamcas.
:lol @ Ramblers not allowing women on their trip. Too funny. :rollin

liverpool ramblers

see www.puertopollensa.com/talkofthenorth/ issues 3 and 4 for info on Ramblers and result of match
The Liverpool Ramblers first came here as a result of local bar/restaurant owner Geoff Thomas (now proprietor of the Codfather fish and chip shop) liaising with his old pals in Liverpool and Juan Aguilar, a local teacher and mover and shaker in the football club. Also heavily involved in the organisation of the first match between Liverpool and Pto Pollensa was a local man called Eladio Lorente, sadly he died in a traffic accident shortly after and so in subsequent years the annual game was always played for the Eladio Lorente trophy. So although this year was the 18th match for the Eladio Lorente trophy, it's actually the 19th year that the team has been coming. Eladio Lorente's son rafael and Eladio run the Lorebte insurance company in Pto Pollensa, and Rafael is also on the Pollensa council, I think his responsibilities include the local police.
Enough info or what?
