Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but wanted to share my Frito Mallorquin story.

The sister in law's husband comes from Soller and my first experience of Frito was at his mother's house. I thought it was great - the fried potato, peppers, onions, garlic and, especially, the liver.

But then, every so often, there was this unpleasantly chewy meaty something. And, of course, when you've been invited to dinner, you can't spit it out saying "YUCK". It's just a matter of chewing and swallowing and hoping there isnt much more. And the old girl asks if we are enjoying it and we smile and tell her we are (in Castilian). She then sets off telling us what's in it. Of course, she's telling us in Mallorquin and the sister in law is translating. And I realise that the sister in law is missing out on tellign us everything.

So, once we've left, I say to her "What didnt you tell us". And she says "I couldnt tell you in there. It's lung"

Still, it hasnt put me off Frito which is still a great dish when cooked well. And plain nasty when not cooked well. When we were last in PP (2001) my partner had a really good veggie version - at Fortalesa, if memory serves.
