Enjoy, and please update blog with any walking off the island?

Now we do have images of PP from an aeroplane, but better still - video :D

I've not managed to embed the video here, so you'll have to scroll down to the bottom of my blog

I have a tiny video camera that I attach to the radio controlled plane.

Try not to get dizzy and see if you can stop tilting your head from side to side :p

Steve.

Check this out, Steve. No runway required. It's called a Quadcopter, but I expect you know that. What fun!:)

Cruddcopter FPV - Seaman Style (GoPro 3 Black) HD - YouTube

And the 'pilot' and the ship are Australian!:D

Hey clinkham.

Yeah, seen them before but never flown one. Great video with the Go Pro camera but they are a lot more expensive than the cheapo thing I use. They are also a lot bigger and would upset the centre of gravity too much on a small lightweight plane.

The video makes it look very easy to fly, if it's anything like an RC helicopter it's not

Hi Steve, just read about your latest walk, Cuculla De Fartaritx, (I've already given it a nickname;)) Sorry that's childish of me!

This walk looks great, why have I never taken notice of it before? Is it any more difficult than Caimari- LLuc- Caimari? Taking our two teenage girls with us in April and although they are fitter than me their mental stamina needs working on.

Still waiting for your blog on Cala Tuent :D

Hi roig cat.

Yeah, the walk to Cuculla De Fartaritx was great. If you start from Pollença it's definitely less strenuous than the Caimari - LLuc - Caimari route and should take less than 6 hours. Or you could start from PP and get the bus back from the old town if legs are failing. I have to say that generally I've found the walks around the north-east of the island the best.

I doubt whether I'll be able to do the Torrent de Pareis before I leave in two weeks. I walked from PP to Alcudia yesterday, via the back roads, and was really surprised to see how much water is still flowing in the creeks, so there will be a lot in the Torrent de Pareis. We've not really had any rain to speak of for 3 weeks now... Knowing me I'll give it a go anyway  Having said that there's an article in this week's Euro Weekly that says 4 people were rescued from the Torrent suffering from hypothermia last week

It was extremely windy here last night, the worst I've seen. I wonder if there's any more damage on the Pine Walk...

Steve.

Steve.

My dream, "must do" walk sometime!! But thought I would join a guided walk.

Videos of the walk on UTube show ropes necessary when its dry and wet suits when its wet!! and there is apparently a "no turning back" point!! Timing is crucial as well to get back apparently??

Good luck Steve and looking forward to your blog. :D

Torrent de Pareis/other walks

We were at base of Torrent last Saturday. Were talking to a German guy who told us how far up the gorge we could get before need for wetsuits!!! Got as far as the 2nd permanent pool mentioned by Charles Davis. Could not get past slab of rock at the start of the very narrow section, rocks way too steep, water in pool way too deep!! German guy had said his mates had done the full 'top down' walk a few days before we were there, but had done it in wetsuits & were swimming in some places!!
Still quite a pleasant little walk tho' not as far as we had hoped- not too many tourists yet!!

Followed your walk from Ermita de Betlem to Bec de Ferrutx last Friday. Fabulous weather, fabulous walk!!! Only met 4 other walkers in whole hike.
Really enjoy your blog as we have already done some of the walks & the ones we haven't give us food for thought. Your photos with pointers for turns etc make life easier.

Keep up the good work (walk?). Wish we still had 2 more weeks left. Back home now in zero degrees & still snow around.

Cheers mate

Cheers for that info overthehill.

It's not sounding too good for the Torrent de Pareis at the minute :( Maybe if there's no rain for the next 10 days it could be do-able...

Steve.

Just returned from a 5 day mountain bike ride around Menorca. Very easy to get to on the ferry from Alcudia.
Don´t intend to do a full write up but if anyone fancies having a go at it and wants some info send me a PM. I will just explode two myths which we were led to believe before going -

1. Menorca is not flat !!
2. The Cami de Cavelles (coastal footpath) is not rideable despite what the Tourist Office website says. In fact Duggie Lampkin on a 500cc Gas-Gas would struggle with some of it.
