The walkway,pavement.pathway but not sidewalk hasn't actually got any further since the first phase, except that two new stones have been laid and the new drains sorted ready to start the final section

Scarlett - Caprabo the building is still there but it is now an eroski and they do not stock all the garden furniture and other large items anymore

This footpath/pathway, has now reached to beyond Eroski on the main road. Barriers are still in place but for those wobbling home from the wine festival it is accessible and will be safer.

If you've been to the wine festival just jump the barriers(it's quite a soft landing) at least it was on my head

Thanks for the update. It's not that long until we go now and I'm sure we are somewhere close to the Eroski (in Siller?). So, if I have interpreted things right, this could be our route to walk into the Port. Am I right, or way off?!!

Mearsy - the pathway runs from the Seaplane roundabout by Eroski right along the Port/old town road on the left hand side of the road (as you head to old town).

It will make for a much safer route for pedestians and cyclists (are they allowed to use it I wonder?) btween Eroski and old town and all points in between.

It does look like a bit of a rollercoaster though as they seem to have built it all on the same level until you get to a side road junction!!

Yeah!!! fantastic idea, should have done this sooner......... what will they do next, maybe make the port a little more disable friendly, ie wheelchairs, repair roads, or generally clean up, or continue to waste valuable money on projects that in my eyes are lower in priority.

Firstly lollipop - don't worry about cyclists - you can't even walk hand in hand with your loved one without the posts coming between you!!

Bigbob - if you new how many people have been killed or injured on this stretch of road you would realise that this is an improvement to the area that has been overdue for decades - I for one know of 2 people who have died on this road.

Mearsy - fraid so - hit the roundabout and turn left for the port my friend.

Mearsy, it goes both left and right from where you are, you can walk in to either the port or the old town on it. Lights etc going up soon. On the down side saw a moped on it last night,that will just damage the surface(or pedestrians) The Guardia Civil would be better spending their time penalising these numpties(and the other cyclists on the promenade pavement area) in stead of taking backhanders,sorry, issuing fines for alleged speeding in hire cars

Thanks Ray. I'll probably spend the whole week working out the quickest way to walk into the main port area. This could be an option, or zig zag through to the square after hopping it over the bypass.

I agree with you totally Ray. Although I haven't actually been on the footpath it looks like very small bits of shingle embedded in tarmac or something similar?
Idiots on mopeds etc. will rip that kind of surface to bits.

And, regarding cyclists on the promenades, surely that's illegal? Certainly is over here unless otherwise stated.

Yes, its illegal here(as is riding ANY bike without a helmet) but as with most laws in Mallorca its seldom if ever enforced. have to say though, I dont want Mallorca falling in to the Health and safety, politically correct obssessed place the UK has become. But I do agree with getting cyclists off the pavements as there are hundreds of miles of cycle paths here for them. OK ranting over
