New trees planted in Llenaire.

The council and local children have been working together planting trees in Llenaire, here are some photos which the Ajuntamenta have posted on FB today :-

Lol, just beat me to it Sparky, great idea, we saw they had cleared a lot of the rubbish and weeds when we were over last, it looks a lot better now especially as they also cleared all the old wrecked boats, the area is going to be perfect now for the locals and tourists to have picnics under the trees there, tables and chairs already provided there, another good example of the locals getting involved and helping to improve their own environment.

A little bit of a shame to see the old boat go though, it did give a bit of character and history under the trees. But the work is certainly modernising the Llenaire area even more, and bringing people up to that part of PP. Love it!

ok so I love the idea of more trees and the picnic tables and applaud the council for organising

BUT why move the old boat ....... first we lost the old tree outside the coach house ....... I remember how the kids used to behave all through dinner on a promise that they could have an ice cream for desert and go and climb up it and sit on the horizontal branch. Then we lost the wreck near the rocky outcrop by the Beach near the play park ....... oh how I remember my daughters squeals of delight the year I said she was allowed to swim out to it on her own. Then we lost the old broken down jetty just before the Illa D'Or - the kids used to love swimming beneath it and doing pull ups onto the framework - ( I guess our healthy disrespect for elf and safety is beginning to show

I swear if the rotten old narrow jetty just before the dog leg goes I will chain myself to the nearest pine tree ( if I can find one standing ) in protest ....... I know I am showing my age but these old quirky things bring back so many memories

You are so right cd. And dont forget the Llenaire tree with the spider and bat in it too! Sometimes preservation is just as important.

Not sure what boat is being referred to, my comment about the boats concerned the ones that were removed last year, the collection of broken wrecked old speed boats, tenders and wind surf boards that hadn't be used for at least a year so the council removed them!

Does anyone know if they've done any planting on Av Llenaire and Codonyer?
A lot of palm trees were cut down here and the area now looks very sparse

As far as i know this initiative was only along the beach area .

They say they are going to be planting more around the town, some people may have noticed that individual trees are being replaced in the old town sponsored by residents. Interestingly hardly any Mallorcans turned up for the Llenaire beacg tree planting and when it started raining they all disappeared!! and the planting ended!

Lets hope they do some of the planting in Llenaire - Av Llenaire used to be one of the nicest roads in the port

We certainly lost some big palms in Llenaire Sunshine, hopefully they will remember us!
