Found some info on an other website (which I don't think I can post the link to), but there is meant to be a waste collection station located in the industrial area (Picapedrer 39A street, on the main road from Pollensa to Puerto Pollensa, (where Lidl is located). The service is free and is for individuals and households.

I'll try and find some info on the council website to verify.

Thanks, but I drove around there before and never found anything? It certainly wasn't obvious. This is the street view of that road, which you can move around to find it:

If you drive to the petrol station behind Lidl it is the street parallel with that one.

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, but can you move the street view onto the outside of this location and copy and paste the code on your browser onto this thread.

Because I can't see it!

Sorry Rockape,
Too technical for me.
If you take the road to the left of Lidl and drive past Plomer then turn right at the junction then 1st left and immediately turn right (you will now see the start of it) drive along this street and the entrance is a few hundred meters away. You will see a security barrier just stop and someone will come out and ask what type of rubbish you have and will direct you to the correct skip.
Hope this helps.

Good little "tip" that. They even take asbestos! I need to take my chimney down there. Santa knocked it off last year

It does thanks.....I'll make a note of that! :)

This is not in the wrong place, you are quite right to ask.

This is the answer, general household rubbish goes in black bins, glass goes in green, plastic goes in yellow and cardboard goes in blue. There is a dump but i can`t tell you off the top of my head, i will have to look it up ;).

One question about the recycling bins if you know Lyn - or anybody else.
I assume metal (tins and beer cans) go in the household rubbish as there isn't a separate bin for this?
Hoping we've been doing the right thing 🙏

Yes, as far as i am aware cans are just rubbish. There used to be a white bin for textiles up beside the school but not sure if it`s still there .

Cans/tins go in the yellow container.

Translated from: https://emser2002.com/recollida-de-residus/

YELLOW CONTAINER: plastic bottles and flasks, cans, bricks, sprays, caps, plastic yoghurts, plastic bags, plastic boxes, fruit nets, porexpan trays, toothpaste containers, film and silver wrappers, cigar boxes, wooden boxes, roll-on deodorant containers, etc. Other non-packaging waste cannot be dumped even if it is made from recyclable materials such as plastic buckets, plastic pipes and hoses, etc., in which case they must be taken to the landfill or green point.

GREEN glass packaging container: glass jars, glass bottles and glass yoghurts. Glass waste that is not packaging such as a cup, cup or window cannot be dumped, in which case it must be taken to the landfill or green point so that the material can be recycled.

BLUE paper / cardboard container: newspapers, paper labels, cardboard boxes, paper or cardboard bags, envelopes, magazines and sheets of paper.

GRAY waste container: All other waste that is a mixture of materials and cannot be recycled must be disposed of as waste, such as a scrubber, toothbrush, razor, pens, dirty paper, etc.

BROWN organic container: food scraps, coffee grounds, stones, small pruning scraps, infusion bags, flowers, wooden matches, corks, coffee filters, shells, small wooden sticks, kitchen paper , paper napkins, paper towels, etc.

Thanks Big Sal, i was not aware that cans went in with plastic. In my immediate area we only have green, yellow, blue and black with wheels. No gray or brown .

Thanks Lyn and Big Sal - that's brilliant and really helpful.

We started putting the cans in with the plastic when we first arrived as its what we did in the UK. Then I was worried when I read that yellow was for plastic only so started to put them in with the normal rubbish!
That link explains it all :)

The brown bins seem to be a municipality thing. Alcudia has them but not Pollensa/Port.

https://www.majorcadailybulletin.com/news/local/2021/11/18/93139/mallorca-news-reservoirs.html

The one good thing about the torrential rain we've had in Mallorca over the last 10 days is that the Cúber and Es Gorg Blau reservoirs are almost full.

Capacity has gone up by 187%, from 3,500 to 10,043 cubic hectometres, which is equivalent to one third of a year’s water consumption in Palma.

According to Emaya, between November 8 to 17 the reservoirs reached 83.6% of their capacity, whereas before that they were only 29% full, which is very low for this time of year.

...

With the reserves almost full, it’s possible to reduce the extraction of the aquifers and the acquisition of water from desalination plants.
