Totally ridiculous. Being an island many people like to hire cars as it gives them a sense of freedom and the ability to explore, thereby spending money all over. Not to mention money spent on the car hire, over priced fuel and extra insurance etc.

Another politically correct nonsensical idea. Anyway, yet again how will it work? What if you book your holiday first then can't find a car to hire? How many cars will each company be able to have? Madness.......

The way that the local gov is going I think they want tourism to stop in the Islands as they are making things harder for us. Time me thinks to start looking for a new PP type resort in an other country.

You will be very welcome in an All inclusive hotel as no need for a hire car as there is no need to leave the hotel and visit small independent restaurants and bars etc. and spend money
Just spend it with the big hotel groups like they want you to.

Some of the secrets to happy living in Spain are revealed in a new survey by the British Embassy on how expatriates adjust to a life in the sun.

Integration into the Spanish way of life is the key, the survey reveals. More than half of the British residents who responded say they speak Spanish regularly with friends and neighbours, enjoy Spanish food, use the Spanish healthcare system and employ Spanish tradespeople. The adjective ‘happy’ is the word that they most commonly use to describe their lives in Spain, followed by ‘relaxed’ and ‘content’.

Commenting on the survey, British ambassador Simon Manley said: “...If you are settling here, the first and most important thing to do is to register on the padrón. That way you can access the health and social services you may need now or in future.

“If you fail to register, then you can’t expect support from the Spanish system later...."

The summer tourism season next year will see the lowest amount of all-inclusive hotel offers being made in Majorca since 2007.

The progressive increase in holiday demand from Europe over the past three years has led to a change in the strategies of both tour operators and of hoteliers in the resorts; alternatives to all-inclusive (AI) are more profitable for the hotels.

UK tour operators, which had been the ones driving AI from 2006 to 2008, are now those turning their backs on it, with demand shifting to full board rather than AI.

The strength of the pound is said to be the main reason for this change.

The Reial Club Nautic Port de Pollença negotiates with Ports de les Illes Balears the installation and operation of two hundred new ecological moorings in the bay designed for vessels between 8 and 25 meters.

The new field of buoys will be located in the water layer between the current breakwater of Club Nautico and military base.

The project exposed these days in the headquarters of the club and presented at the last annual meeting of members, includes the installation of two anchors for boats 25 meters eslor to 13 for boats 20 feet long, 28 for boats 15 meters, 44 for vessels of 12 meters, 76 for vessels of 10 meters and 36 for boats 8 meters.

The president of the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, Alan Ponte, reported that the draft technical regulation of moorings in the bay of Pollensa part of a specific request of Ports you want the club to assume the management of the grant of these new facilities . Ponte advances that processing will be long, but hope it can be a reality for the 2016 season.

It doesn't look like this is going to happen :-

Puerto Pollensa yacht club's plan for two hundred mooring buoys for recreational craft between eight and 25 metres in length will not receive authorisation unless there is a change to prevailing regulations, and no such change is being envisaged.
