That is just terrible news - definitely the best food in the Port... and it got better every year. And Jaime is a lovely man. We will miss O'Lume so much. I hope things work out for him.

Bad news

So very sorry to hear. :mad:We have visited O'Lume regularly, last time was twice during Christmas. There were no other guests than us, but we love Jaime and his food. Hope to see him soon in a different restaurant in the Port. :)

Sorry to hear any place closing, but I always thought it was over rated. I was in at least 4 times and never came out thinking I had a great meal or it was particularly good value for money. Under cooked steaks, small portions, either too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. Because it is championed on this website means nothing, the public decide if a restaurant is a success or not and the public have voted.

Gpm, that is your assumption, not fact.
As i have already said in post #11 on this thread, things are not always what we assume them to be.

I would say it is a fact it was not a financial success or it would still be open. Unless you would like to enlighten us!

I think you only need to read the posts on this thread to know you're part of a very small minority. Some didn't like it, that's fine, that's their opinion which they are perfectly entitled to. But what i don't understand about the negative posts all seem to be fishing for some bombshell news so they can back up their dislike of the place with "I told you so". It ain't there! Stop fishing and move along, you've made your point. You didn't like it, fine!

You didn't like it, but you kept going  10/10 for perseverance.

Well, you can't keep them all happy, as the saying goes!
I'm a big fan of Jaime and the way he chose to run his business, from the way he treated his customers I can only say he is a true gentleman. I always enjoyed my trips to O'Lume (both of them) no matter how many tables were occupied. The food was always to my liking and nothing seemed too much trouble for Jaime and his staff. So a big thank you Jaimie and I wish you well for the future - there will be one!
I live in a tourist resort albeit in the UK and I know the difficulties some seemingly good businesses have surviving these days. I always say 'It is a long winter in the tourist industry' and the same goes whether in P.P. or in the U.K. At least Jaime had the guts to have a go, ran a good 'house', stuck to his principles of good service and treating customers in a decent and proper manner.

No Gpm i will not enlighten you, the reasons are Jaime's business, nobody else's and not for public knowledge.

Just a quick note. In my post above - (both of them) referred to both the original and the later O'Lume venues, 'not' the number of visits I made to O'Lume.

Quite the opposite, I think it's closed because in my opinion it wasn't particularly good, some others are inferring other reasons which they don't want to disclose. ( if there is an other reason) no fishing, simple fact! So you move along.

I think that is enough now guys you have had your say so lets just agree to disagree.

Whatever the reason O'Lume has closed it will be a great loss to those of us who looked forward to excellent food and service. I will certainly miss Jaime's champagne cocktails and the best chocolate mousse I have eaten. My best wishes go to Jaime and his staff.

My son and his g/friend go at different times from us, they adored the chocolate mouse, on our frequent visits Jaime always packed 2 portions for us to take back to the UK, packed in proper containers, so my son could have his little bit of PP at home. That's the type of guy Jaime was (and still is).

V nice touch I must admit but chocolate MOUSE ??? Yuk !!!

Well I am disappointed but not surprised by some of these post. This is bad for the port what ever your opinions of this place, a little more respect for someone who has tried to serve visitors to the port over many years would be appropriate

Being a number one supporter of O'Lume this is sad news was looking forward to my next visit in April. I know Jamie reads the post so he will get the message how sad most people are.
Jamie you have always been the perfect host your ambiance will be very much missed in the port, as will your food, I do hope you remain in the port and please let Sparky know where you are so you friends can visit you.
A very sad day.

Agree with Snowy!
Sparky give Jamie a hug from all of us who really appreciate both his food and his kind nature. Hope we get to meet him when we come down for Easter :-)
