Can't quite understand peoples "fear" of dining in a quiet/deserted resturant, don't be afraid, give it a go, after all, unless you're a lone diner surely your nearest and dearest is the only company you should seek:)

I don't think it's a "lonely" thing - perhaps more a worry that everyone knows something about the place that you don't.

I like to try new places but a quiet one needs to have "something" to encourage me to go in. In this case, I'll be trying it, as I said up-thread, because folk have said it's northern Spanish cuisine - and I won't be at all fussed if the only folk in there are me and the companion in life.

When you 'eat your tea' at home do you have the radio, cd, tv on? Its ambience?

Hi Mark - did they not have their Galatian music on? The bagpipes made me feel very much at home! :)

I'm starting to go off O Lume - I hate music in restaurants. Really hate it. It's either too loud so you can't chat or it's so quiet you spend half the evening wondering what the song is.

In my opinion, I think O'lume is as good as it is particularly because it is not as busy as other restaurants. As soon as you fill the place and you have chefs working overtime, the food does not get the same work and effort as when there is maybe a 50% fill rate. But theats just my opinion, you never know!

Good point Nick, i have found this to be the case in a few restaurants here in Plymouth. That or because of their success the owners decide to sell up and make a very healthy profit.
