New Year at O Lume

What a great night!
It was great to see O Lume full. The atmosphere was really good and the courses and the drink just kept coming (small starter, pate, fish course, sorbet, pastry dish with fish, meat course, desert, red wine, white wine, cava coffee, "and perhaps a small drink to go with the coffee, on the house.". Everyone got a quality "goodie bag" with hats and blowers and streamers etc.
With people paying 150€ in other places in the Port for New Years Eve, Jaime's 48€ must be the bargain of the New Year.
As usual the service was excellent, and nothing was too much trouble.

Hi Frito - Good to read your review from new years eve, it sounds as though you had a 'splendid' time and that O'Lume came up trumps yet again. Lets hope we hear more reviews from others on their evening in Puerto Pollensa.:) I'll start a new thread - see 'New Year in PP'

Sorry, dont know what all the fuss is about. Booked a table, 3 tables occupied when we went in, Mrs gp ordered Scallops & prawn kabab, overcooked. My daughter and I ordered T bone steaks (well done) and it came trying to get off the plate. We were then given a speach by Jaime, how his meat doesn,t need to be cooked for long, as it,s so good. Rubbish, in the old Tango, you could cut your steak with the back of your fork, I couldn,t cut this steak with a saw. I tried to hide the bits of raw steak under the veg, but as there was only 4 chips
(sauted) as they call it,I didn,t have anywhere to hide it. We also thought Jaime, who I have read about on the forum was not the great host everyone says.( You try sending your steak back twice) Anyway, not for me, I will stick to Tango or Trio for steaks, service and a smile. GPM
 
Another fantastic evening in O'Lume

We took 2 of our Spanish friends last night as they had never been. We had:-

Bread and flavoured butter.
1 Duck salad with huckleberry sauce.
2 half portions of Galician Octopus.

1 Scallops a la Gallega.
1 Fillet steak.
1 Lamb chops.
1 Veal entrecote with mushroom sauce.
All served with fresh vegetables.

3 glasses of wine and a small beer before we ate, 2 bottles of Pescador Blanco, 2 cafe solos and a bottle of water.

Huge brandies and a Bailey's were on the house and of course those lovely home made chocolates.

As always the food was cooked to perfection and the service provided
by Jaime was second to none, our friends were very impressed.
Thank you Jaime you will see us again soon.

The bill was a very reasonable €126
 
Oh Sparky that meal just sounds so delicious. We are very much looking forward to our first visit over Easter, as our son will now be able to stay up late enough for us to eat there. I can`t wait !!!!!!!!!

Went there 3 times last week! Food and service superb, have now arrived home and still tingling at the thought of sitting in front of the lovely log fire until 1o'clock this morning.

You're getting far too old to be up at 1 a.m. !!!!!

Is it still 22 Euros per head at O'Lume ?, quality for bucks hard to beat as most think .

You were well out of the UK last week, the whole south of the country shut down for the week ( but you'd expect that , Hardman !!!! )

Yes! O' Lume MDD still 22 Euros, although i tend to go from the menu, not much difference in price at the end of the day.

Yep, Getting a bit chilly up here in Pict land, even the hardmen are considering wearing jackets !!!

Our first vist was just us... nae budy else !
Obviously, the service, advice and attentention were great but just loved the place, the food, the MAN ! Yup, it was empty that nite, but I didnt find that it lacked atmosphere... we just had a really nice eating experience, quietly and comfotrably.
Been back when its been busy and quiet and either way, still get the same buzz.
I like the food and I like the attention to detail and advice that Jamie offers. I feel like a guest, not just another jo public... I just really like this place !

Glad you enjoyed it, yes it can be quiet this time of year (Stay had NOBODY in the other night) must agree it matters not a jot wether it's full or empty, some people complain about lack of "ambiance". What is ambiance? i've looked everywhere and can't find it, under tables, in corners, everywhere. I go to restaurants to enjoy the company of my wife, good food, wine and of course good service.
 
Can i ask do they do (i dont mean nuggets etc) some less fancy food for kids? i keep reading about how good this place and would like to try it in july.

I can't recall an actual children's menu, but my two have enjoyed chicken there and the fishy croquettes went down well. I'm sure Jaime will do half-portions for children if you ask. My two were 10 and 6 when we visited and were more than happy with their meals.

Yes, that's right - don't think they have an actual children's menu but we have taken our two there since they were three and they were very happy with what they were given - think they shared an adult portion of chicken, and I seem to remember them having pasta on one occasion. I'm sure you'll have no problems!

Personally I prefer it when there is no 'official' kids' menu since it is invariably based around the usual nuggets/burgers/chips... you'd never let your children eat that every evening for two weeks back home!
 
Hi Snowy, we will be going 24th May for our anniversary. Will be posting in due course on what i am sure will be another superb evening.:D
