I have just arrived this Saturday in PP. My Husband and I have decided to try new restaurants so we ventured to the new restaurant beside the old cultural bar on the square. We decided to have the fillet steak but were told they had ran out so opted for the sirloin instead. I can't fault the steak it was very good, I asked for the baked potato and Hubby had chips. The chips were hand cut which is great as I hate frozen chips. The baked potato was also good but came slathered in garlic mayo, fine if you like it!, I would have preferred it on the side. The service up to the point of the food arriving was good but went seriously down hill from there. We were not asked at all whether we would like coffee or a sweet. We shared a bottle of wine so we were there for a while. I will put it down to teething problems as it's quite new but feel they are missing out in revenue if they keep that service up. The bill was aprox £42 Euros, the sirloin was £16 each.

Thank you for posting this review Carol.

Do you not have the name of this restaurant? It would be of help to others.
If not, where was it located in relation to Circulo Cultural, on the Square?

I'm not certain but i think it's part of Circulo Cultural, El Gordo.

Yes i had it confirmed last night and was told that the drink prices have increased by quite a lot :(.

Yes it is linked to the circulo cultural, and yes the drinks have gone up. It is three euros for a glass of house wine.

I have heard that it is cafe 1919 who are running the bar side, certainly waistcoats and skirts suggest this also.

Does that include the waiters? ;);)

If I have this wrong then apologies in advance, but is this now operating out of the old cultural bar. If so and the big guy with the cigar is still running it then I can't believe he's named it El Gordo. You really could not make that up :) Priceless !!

I think you may have, there should be a comma I think!
