Thanks for this great review Sparky Sounds like you had a lovely evening. Look forward to trying it for myself in 4 weeks time :D

Think I need to check out some flights!!

I just want to say how good it was to see so many forum members enjoying the excellent food and service in O Lume last night, Jaime was thrilled to bits :D:D.

We are on our way Sparky roll on Sept 1 st

Nice to see success come O' Lume's way, and that it's such a firm favourite with so many of this boards members. No offence to many of the hard working restraunters in the port, but i can think of no other individual who has worked so hard, so tirelessly, to make a success of his business than Jaime. No matter when you go he is open, always with a smile and a warm welcome. The quality of food and service never falter.

Agree fully with Smiddy's sentiments. Jaime deserves the recent plaudits. My husband and I voted our main courses confit of duck with raisins & pine nuts with sherry reduction and the sea bass a la sal the top dishes of our holiday.

Arriving next Friday. Haven't sorted the car hire yet but have already booked Jaime's for a couple of days in. Got to get your priorities right! Can't fault him!

Jaime, could we have a table for 4 in the courtyard for sunday evening, thanks, if it is not raining.

Don't worry Sparky, Jaime is psychic. A couple of years ago I put a comment on website about going to O'Lume so went in on the lunchtime to book a table for the evening, I said my name and Jaime just laughed as he opened his restaurant diary and there was my name. Think he must have wrote it in for every night to cover himself (or did he, spooky). On sunday I am going to ask him for tuesdays euromillions numbers.

I keep on reading about how great O'Lume is.Perhaps my poor opinion of this restaurant is known to a number of people on this forum. I was in PP for a period of seven weeks from mid June to the first week in August. Many times early evening I walked past and saw Jamie standing outside I assumed for the purpose of enticing people into his establishment so naturally I thought that there had been no improvement. There obviously were no customers inside as he also would have been inside. Please tell me what has changed from the previous years.

There is a new chef this year who has improved things : but I would say he has taken it from an excellent restaurant to an exceptional one.
Anytime we have been Jaime has always been an excellent host and if you talk to him is clearly passionate about his restaurant and the ingredients they use in their cooking.
What didn’t you like about it ?

Been meaning to post about our visit to O Lume with Sparky, it was our first time and we had a wonderful evening, as you say Smiddy the quality of the food and service is outstanding.
We must fall in the category of people who have been meaning to go there but never got around to it, the location of the patio doesn't help in the summer as it does look quiet from the road as everyone is out back. I know all the regulars already know who friendly and welcoming Jaime is, but as first timers it was so refreshing to see at first hand.
He is the sort of person you meet and you feel like you have known him all your life, he is so friendly, hard working and his aim is to make everyone feel at home and make their visit as perfect as possible.
We had always been worried what would be available to us as veggies, but as he pointed out ever thing they make is fresh and to order so if you want something changing or something not as on the menu he is more than happy to do this for you, not many places do this.
As I have posted, their veggie paella was the best we have ever tasted, and it would be the perfect place if you had people with specific eating requirements.
He has a good sense of humor as well and as he does read the forum he is aware of the some of the comments made and we had a laugh over what people have said, especially concerning the wine!, which was wonderful by the way.
So we had a wonderful time with the Sparkes, and we left knowing we had made a friend and we would be back, especially looking forward to trying it in the winter when the fire is going.
So if you haven't tried it, do, you will not be disappointed, I was worried it wouldn't be as good as all you regulars say it is, but I needn't have been, it is every bit as good as you have said, and in a time when restaurants can feel like they want you in and out as quickly as they can, it is so refreshing to find a place that has your enjoyment and satisfaction as their main aim.

This sounds a fab place which in our 12 years of coming we have overlooked! I am assuming that it would be a prerequisite to book?

Yes it would be best, it does get booked up for the terrace, plenty of space inside though!

Possibly not depending on the time of year but I always would book rather than risk being disappointed. :)

Last year somebody(not me) posted that they had to hide their opened bottle of wine under the table so as to keep Jamie's hands off it.

Lol, it may have been that I was alluding to, anyway Jaime didn't touch our bottle once, the waitress did though which was just as well, I was accused of being a bad wine monitor on other occasions, so it was lucky that someone did it for us ;), it was nice wine, Albrino I believe :)

Thanks folks definitely a must try!

I too love olume and visit more than once every time we are in PP. We went there twice a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the meals we had and Jaime's wonderful service. However, I must say that the new chef is not, in my opinion, as good as the last. For example I always have the seafood salad for starters. In the past it would have warm shellfish, razor clams, whole barbecued langoustine and a beautiful salad that would be delicately dressed. This year all the seafood was cold, obviously cooked in advance put in the fridge and then plated up to order. The salad was mainly leaves and undressed ones at that. No razor clams no langoustine and not a patch on previous years. Also the chef seems to have a preoccupation with balsamic drizzle that is squirted around nearly every savoury dish. As I said previously we still love O Lume and will continue to visit, mainly because of Jaime, but do not rate the new chef at the same standard as the previous one.
