Parking !

It was supposed to be an early dinner then home for an early nite and try to catch up on the late nites ! However, when we got back to the car.... NO CAR !
Eventually we established that it had been TOWED - at least not stolen but an exp. evening - 95 euros and a lot of hanging about to get it back !

Main point of the post is just to warn others. We thought we parked legally.
Unfortunately, the YELLOW line was NOT kerbside (due to the storm drains) but on the outside of the storm drain eg middle of the parking lane... so when u park ur car, it is actually covering the yellow line !
This was on Joan XXIII, between the zebra crossing and the disabled parking bay, at the wee corner shoe shop. As another car pulled out of the space and we drove straight in, at no time was the yellow line visable ( we had even double checked that we weren't overlapping either the crossing or the disabled bay... lota good that did us ! lol

What a pain, Miriam but thankfully the car wasn't stolen. When I saw your post I thought back to you buying the car and the journey your son and husband had in getting it to PP. It would have been just awful to have then lost it.

Well this needs to be a warning to us all. I wouldn't have thought to look in the road either for no parking signs. I also suppose compared to here in UK, (although an absolute pain,) it was cheaper to retrieve the car then some of the horror stories you hear about here.

So sorry to read of your tale of woe and we actually watched the local police towing it away, around 9.30 last night, we commented how many police there were and there was quite a comotion Really pleased you got it back ok.

If we had realised it was one of the forum members then we would have put a human barricade(sp?) around it (all 2 of us)

Did it have British numberplates? I've been told that cars with Brit numberplates are far more likely to get towed in PP.

Yes, graham... british plates.. but bottom line - we broke the law regardless of the reasons so it is a lesson learnt.

whaley... we were in Los Faroles and actually commented on the number of police that were about ! lol well it kept 'em busy

eleanor...that was our first thoughts !
but for future info ppl, if ur car HAS been towed away, a dayglo orange triagular sticker is place on the kerb, with ur reg number and a telefone number to call. The pound is next to the public swimming pool and as the police office in PP is not manned 24/7, u have to wait on them arriving.

Whilst in PP last week we noticed several cars were towed away as they too had not realised you can no longer park adjacent to the Guardia Civil building. Maybe they are just hot on towing at the moment i'm sure it must make them plenty of money. Glad you got yours back OK.

Joelise, I think they are more strict around the Guardia Civil area due to the bombs of last year.

Still a pain though, as it seems that perhaps it isn't so straight forward to know where you are not allowed to park.

You were lucky to get it back, it's illegal to leave a persoanally owned britishe reg car in spain when you leave the country
