Well guys,
We experienced hassle free travel at its very best for our trip to PP despite all the worries about API, excess baggage charging and of course all the dreadful terror threats.
We flew with Globespan (our 10th return flight with them now) and everything ran like clockwork. Can't recommend them enough.
We flew out on 30th June from Edinburgh - the day of the Glasgow terror attack. Our flight was 8am so before the incident. It left on time. We were unpacked and sipping cava by the villa pool by 2 pm.
At Palma they brought us around to the front of the airport by bus so we didn't even have the usual 20 min walk through the airport. The bags came out quickly too! Fantastic!
We returned yesterday. There was no queue at our check in desk at Palma - an astonishing first - especially surprising since all the API bad press!
They have moved the security clearance to the main forecourt which is actually better as it means that once you are cleared you have access to all the shops rather than just those at your gate. This took a little longer as the belts, watches have to come off similar to UK airports but no probs.
Our gate was A for the first time in my experience since 1999 but as we were so early (2 1/2 hours to wait as a result of no queing) we strolled along to the usual gate C for a bite to eat.
Flight boarded on time and left 10 mins early!! No probs when we arrived in Edinburgh 1/2 hour early (expect the usual wait for bags.)
All in all a very good experience. How could this be so? 10% luck - 90% Globespan.
