Well I am afraid I don´t find it funny.

Quite a few on the photos were taken before the project was even finished and 50% of the rest of them are repeats of the same buiding "errors".

It would be worthwhile mentioning that the pavements are 3,5 kms long, and anyone with a slight bit of commonsense will realise that there are bound to be parts of it which are not perfect but that can be easliy rectified at the end of the season.

I bet a lot of London´s boroughs wished they had the same sort of quality for the price that we resident taxpayers paid.

This will be my last comment on the subject. I have better things to do, like try and enjoy life.

I'm actually very offended by you remark 'anyone with a slight bit of common sense'. Works both ways MDR. The latest photos we're taken yesterday and were posted to show the deterioration since June and not repeats of obvious 'errors'. I personally think most people with common sense would think that the quality after 9 months is appalling. Let's see what the winter brings, as once it gets cold the concrete will continue to lift and break up. Where they have tried to repair it, by adding more sealant, it looks awful. As Nick posted in his deleted post...would it be acceptable if it had been a patio laid in your home?

Having just returned there are some issues with the new concrete work which are not acceptable for a new project, but nothing major to my eye and certainly nothing that I'd identify a a trip hazard.

Tommo the promenade is getting more dangerous by the day, spent so much time looking for cracks that I walked into a lamp post. Suggest you take a helmet as well!!

The minorities voted against the plans for the second phase because of funding concerns, the money has now been guaranteed so hopefully that will appease them and the project will move ahead.

Friends of ours who have owned an apartment in Puerto Pollenca for many years have just sold. Two of the main reasons for leaving the Port are -

The reduction of parking along the front means they could no longer park anywhere near where they liked to sunbathe.

The times of their main visits in Spring and Autumn are now so inundated with masses of cyclists with no road sense and no consideration for others that it is no longer a pleasure to drive anywhere.

I wonder how many others may be thinking along the same lines?

Just looked at the latest photos and must admit I am a bit shocked at the seemingly dangerous (in parts) state of the pavements some of which look like an accident waiting to happen But a nice pair of loafers in a couple of the pics But despite the dodgy pavements I still wish we were not missing our October visit this year.

I appreciate that this is an ‘artist impression’, but where is the cycle lane? I can see pedestrians on the extreme right walking in front of the new seating, and also on the extreme right which is currently the road. Do I presume that cyclists will use the ‘grey’ lane to the right of the pillars? One thing’s for sure, it looks a hundred times better than what was done for the 2016 season!

Yes the "cobbled" area is the road and the grey area is the cycle path .

Yes, that artists impression has been around for a little while now and indeed if it ends up looking like that then wow.
Let's hope so.

To see what it all 'could have / could' look like have a look at the 'See Mallorca' web-cam and have a look at Puerto Soller. A very tidy job with the majority (roads / paths) in varying coloured brick pavoirs / paving slabs.

representatives from all
the municipal bodies were
called to a meeting with the
Minister of Planning and
Infrastructure, Mercedes
Garrido and Director of
Highways, Joan Cifre. At the
meeting, these representatives
of the Consell de Mallorca
approved the contribution
of €500,000. This was not
the first time Miquel Angel
March and his council have
tried to win approval. On
the first two occasions, the
Consell did not approve the
investment. But third time
lucky, the money is now
confirmed. The next step is a
meeting at local council level
and, as Councillor Miguel
Angel Sureda told TOTN,
this time it is likely to be
successful. Until now, the
move forward to phase two
has been stunted by ex-mayor
Tomeu Cifre who would not
pass the project without the
funds from the Consell. With
this confirmed, approval
from local council is likely to
happen. We will find out at a
meeting next week.
The Plans
Phase Two will cost €2m,
the remaining €1.5m will be
funded by local council and
the work will be carefully
planned in accordance with
the start of the 2017 season.
Miquel Sureda told TOTN
that the intention is to start
at the marina roundabout up
to La Gola. In winter 2017-8
the work from La Gola up to
Llenaire will be completed.
The delay in achieving
finance has made a big
difference to the start date.
From the moment the local
council approves the budget,
the council will open the
work to tender. With all that
is involved, it’s unlikely to
commence until January.
While the delay is regrettable,
everything is being carefully
controlled, the council are
committed to having al work
stopped before Easter, which
will be in mid-April. Sureda
concluded, “We will have the
beaches ready for the season
in 2017.
