Little Italy for us every time, although I popped in to book a table on Tuesday, the first evening table they had outside was 6 days later on the following Monday! Looking forward to it though!
Well everyone, having posted the above, waited for the best part of a week, have to say that Little Italy last night was an extreme disappointment.
The overall feeling was that we were an extreme inconvenience in their mission to turn as many tables as humanly possible.
We were on the most outside table, which is actually now creeping across the Pine Walk, and if I stretched out, I would trip people up!
Was sat by a waiter, grumpy I'll call him for now (tall chap, blonde is, if his brain knew how to smile, it certainly didn't communicate it to his face), given menus and immediately asked if we knew what we wanted! Asked for a few minutes, but came back literally one minute later asking the same again, go away please grumpy!
Eventually after grumpy came a third time in 5 minutes, pressured into ordering, the food arrived before we'd even had a few sips of wine.
We have always enjoyed Little Italy pizza, but that itself was distinctly average, and having had a fantastic meal a few days earlier at Casa Vila, there was no comparison, pizza was undercooked and doughy in the middle, not surprising given how quickly it arrived.
Having visited this place every year for the last 6 years we have been coming to PP, I actually think they are starting to believe their own hype, they will fill tables regardless.
Such a shame, as this was such a highlight in the past, but no more.
Casa Vila a few nights earlier had a fantastic ambiance, great setting, lovely food and good wine, yes there seemed to be a few service issues with a few tables, but nothing too serious given how extremely busy they were, our last meal on Friday will not be lining the pockets of Little Italy, but I can highly recommend the pizza and food at Casa Vila.
