Pollenca Festival - Patrona de Pollensa 2010

Hi,

Off to PP next Saturday for our eighth visit.

This year we hope to watch the Pollenca Festival and the Moors And Christians event. Does anyone know the dates for 2010 and whether the restaurants are open and how easy will it be to get a taxi after the fireworks.

The Moors and the Christians is usually the 2nd August,check under Events for programme. It is usually very busy so might be worth booking restaurant. Haven't tried to get Taxi but remeber it will be after 12mn.

Hi AW, the dates for this years La Patrona are not listed here yet but I am guessing it will be the 24th July - 1st August, the battle is always on the Sunday, do try and go if you are there for this, it is certainly well worth it, this will be the first time in 5 years or so I will miss it The format usually is the same for each year so check last years which will give you a good idea what to expect

Sorry, but can I just correct you?? The Moors and Christians battle is NOT always a Sunday it is always the 2nd of August, regardless of what day of the week it is. The 2nd August is an official holiday in Pollensa and Port de Pollença and many places are closed - or only open in the mornings. The battle commences approx. 1900hrs and is finished by 2100hrs however the fireworks, which are fab, are not until midnight. There will be enough restaurants open in the Port to keep everyone happy. As mentioned above we don't yet have the program but it is more or less the same each year culminating on 2nd August (regardless of day) with Moors & Christians battle - see Events & Fiestas in Pollensa (Pollenca), Mallorca Majorca for last year's program.
