PP waking up

Although the Port is waking up it seems that yet again there could be a hold up with the beach beds and brollies. A dispute over tax due and owing and part of the council wanting emser to run things. Will try and keep you posted.

I really can't see how they can make it profitable as not many people seem to use the loungers (paid for that is!). It probably costs them more to employ the guy to walk up and down the beach.

I was told last week that dogs are to be banned from the beach as of today, which is a month earlier than normal.
The saga of the beds and brollies happens just about every year, why can't they just make the license last for 5 years and be done with it, agree with Whaley though, how do they make money from it .

I don't know, they are quite full in July August, I wouldn't mind the job of collecting the money, that would suit me

Sparky, I think the contract was awarded but because of the money problem and the increase in tax wanted this year they are challenging it. They are looking for a reduction of 153000 euro's so goodness knows what they are expected to pay!!

When we go in August there isnt usually a spare sunbed from the Miramar down to the I'la Dor and the guys that issue the tickets and collect the money do a couple of rounds a day so if someone new sits on a lounger in the afternoon they have to pay, do the sunbeds all get taken round the south beach in the peak season?

No not all, except maybe weekends, they used to a few years ago, sometimes if you turned up mid morning they would all be full, now you can always find some.

Yeehaaaaa, a step in the right direction. I hate those tacky amusement arcades. So reminiscent of many seaside towns over here. Yuk.......

After 30 years in the business, in both pubs and arcades, I must say the Spanish arcades generally seem to be far more professionally run, and kept in better condition than the UK ones. They also look to be well regulated by the authorities(going off the number of official stickers and notices).They seem to aim to be family entertainment centres rather than (as in the UK) a gathering ground for the sort of people we come to PP to get away from.
1euro for a grandaghters ride on a galloping wild west horse seems good value for money and harms no one.

Bony's is now open.
Mulligans opened under new management last night, live music was provided by John Lynham.
L'Olivera is open again, the twins are still there but they are now concentrating more on Tapas.

The new Voss bag and shoe shop is open along with most others along the front. This is a classy looking shop with classy prices!!!

Clinkham I have to agree with you on the arcades. They are well run and cartainly not tacky. I think they are quite discreet and certainly don't stick out like a sore thumb. My 2 young children look forward to a quick visit every night after our meal, it is afterall their holiday too!

Not over impressed I'm afraid. Miss Sixty bags put me off! Still worth a look though. The owner was still pricing up when we went in - but there again, who looks at prices when you have hubby in tow!

That will be why there's even more dog mess around then. People are even letting their dogs mess in front of the restaurants between the Pine Walk and Cafe 1919.

I speak as a dog owner and someone who believes being PC is using a computer, but dare I suggest that this is something the authorities should get a grip of (not literally). About the only thing we can find fault with in PP is, bluntly, dog poo.

I'm also a dog owner here in England and clear up after my dog.

I agree with your comments and I only have 2 things I can really find fault with in PP, that is dog mess and graffitti.

As you rightly say, the authorities really do need to get a grip.

It's a shame they don't read this great website.
