We found out today that the villa in pollensa we are staying in this week is not booked out next week. We're now giving serious consideration to staying an extra week. We've been through everything we had planned next week and it's all either cancellable or movable.

The only potential barrier is that my wife doesn't have enough of her prescription drugs to see her through the extra week. My immediate response was what if we'd been quarantined for 10 days!!

Either way my question is the same - how easy is it to get prescription drugs here? What's needed?

Take the medicines to the chemist and they will advise if they can supply or if you need to visit the Health centre to obtain a prescription. You may have to pay.

Its amazing how many UK prescription drugs can simply be bought over the counter in PP just take them to the pharmacy and ask them, If they cannot give you them a local Doctor will be able to give you a prescription.
Stay on and enjoy your extra week!

should be able to get some money knocked off the villa hire too!

(I'd suggest saying that you are considering it, so can they make it worth your while!) :)

Thanks all. First pharmacy wouldn't entertain us without a prescription but the second one could not have been more helpful. All sorted for €7.

Got 5% of the week price for the villa. It's one we've stayed in many times before so probably could have pushed for more but I was happy with that price. Flights rearranged for €0. We now return 3rd Oct. For the moment I'm assuming covid testing regime still the same? Fit to fly before and day 2 pcr on arrival...

Lucky you. Enjoy your extra week. Yes for Scotland no change to testing so far.

If you could have delayed it until 4th, no fit to fly.

If only, as usual the Scottish Government are staying with current testing. That is no date for change at present. We live in hope

Seems to me the Scottish Government will always do something different from the English for purely political posturing reasons. Well they’ve certainly achieved a different outcome with one of the very highest Covid rates in Europe. Nice work. I agree with devolution (not independence….just my personal view) but it seems totally barmy to me that in our so called United Kingdom, at a time of national emergency, the four member countries are able to have different rules. Thank goodness we’re not at war!

I’m sure a lot of readers would like to know which chemist was the more amenable. Can you divulge ?

Good shout Julian. We were shopping at Eu Serral Gourmet (which I can't recommend highly enough for cheeses, meats, etc) and noticed Farmacia Ventayol next door. (This is on Carrer de Cecili Metel in Pollensa btw). They spoke good English but without even looking at the drugs required said they would need a prescription. They then told us of a doctor further up the street.

We never found the doctor's premises so just carried on back to the house. On the way we passed Farmacia Miquel Oliver on Carrer d'Alcudia just down from the main square. As I said they couldn't have been more helpful or professional. Spoke excellent English too.

Did anyone else read this thread title and think we were going to have talk about how County Lines had reached Pollensa? OK maybe not.
