We are probably going to PP again within the next month as we have done for the past 6 years.Last year we noticed that prices had taken a bit of a steep hike - even before this lousy exchange rate had kicked in - and I'm concerned that it will become too expensive to eat/drink out every night.
What would I pay for a pint this year? A certain popular bar in the square was charging 4.5E last September.
What about a bottle of wine?
Starter and main?
I do hope PP isn't going to price itself out of my market.

Hi Stephen, i think on average prices are the same as last year with some places actually cheaper. If you read some of the "Trip Reports" and "Restaurant Reviews" in this section, i am sure you will get a good idea of the best places for value for money.;)

Stephen,
I'd agree with Sparky's comments prices in euros were very similar to last year its the exchange rate that's the real problem. Again look through previous reports and if for example beers your thing then don't go the square bars can be significantly less expensive elsewhere in the port.

Thought it worth pointing out a bar which we used a few times on our visit out there a few weeks ago. It is called Pat and Debs bar. It is just off the square, next door to Tiberi, and looks onto the 'well known' bar that i think you mean.

You can get a large beer for 2.50 Euros, and it is a lovely pint. Large wine is about 3 or 3.50. Very friendly service - my daughter knocked her full drink over me and it was replaced free of charge straight away. would definitely recommend it.

Yes I agree. We discovered Pat and Debs this year and thought it was a lovely little bar, particularly as the drinks were so cheap! The wine was 3 euros by the way and it was a very large glass! Pat and Debs were lovely too.

Another bar which I rarely see mentioned is the corner bar, or Bar Cultural, in the square. I don't know if people are put off it because it is usually full of locals and not very glamorous inside but it is the perfect place for people watching and again the drinks are cheap.

I think these two bars prove that you can enjoy a drink or three in the square at good prices.

A Lot of restaurants are offering set menus in the evening which works out good value, we have this at Hibiscus, Can Andreu, Tango and La Golata.
