I am amazed at how prices for apartments has jumped this year, I think PP maybe pricing it's self out of the ordinary holiday makers range. I have booked for this year same apartment and it's gone up 100 euros a week in September and even more in high season. I love PP but as retired funds are limited. Lets hope PP is not going to be only for the well to do.

It is an example of free-market economics - supply and demand. The new rental registration for private holiday rentals has meant that far fewer apartments are available but as the demand is still there, so prices increase.

In addition owners are factoring in the additional costs of registration including licence fees of between 850 and 3500 euros per occupied space for five years.

This was all predicted two years ago and I was one of the 'doom-mongers' who thought it would lead to reduced visitor numbers for PP and thus impact on local businesses. But I have to admit that having made three visits to the Port since October, there still seem to be plenty of visitors with more places opening out of season.
