Thanks you two, sounds good to me, just one thing, you say go down two floors I take it the bus station is underground? May go with the taxi to the bus station as I dont know where it is, unless the bus goes directly form the airport to it and back again?
Thanks

Yes SWS, it is underground. You have buses, trains and trams on different levels, it's actually a really good idea. I have not taken the airport/bus station bus but would imagine it will take you right into the station.

Thanks Sparky, definitely sound doable, will think about it as we will not have a car this time round.

A big plus for taking the bus instead of the car is that you get to see more of the countryside.:D

Public bus from Palma Airport

Yes it is a big advantage - and a chance to relax & let your holiday start whilst someone else does the driving. :)

The No.1 bus from the airport stops in the Plaza de Espana and all you need to do is walk forward about 100 yards (in the same direction as the traffic) and you will see two separate cafes on your right on street level. The escalator & steps down to the bus station are quite easy to spot between the two cafes.

When you do the journey in reverse, the No.1 bus stops exactly opposite where you get off, by the statue in the park in the Plaza.

Thanks for the directions Lorenzo, actually that doesn't sound too bad, perhaps the bus may be worth trying. As you say as I always drive it will be good to see the scenery for a change.

When we first took the No. 1 bus from the airport into Plaza de Espana my main worry was where to get off; when would we know we were at Plaza de Espana! I need not have worried as there is a screen on the bus that changes as you approach each stop, advising the name of the next stop. It couldn't have been simpler. :) Could be a bit manic though on a Summer Saturday. The best hint I can give you is too be first in the queue at the airport. We've done it many times now as it's the only option in the winter. If you get the time, try the cafe in the station, they do the best (and cheapest) baguettes I have ever tasted (the donuts are good too:))

I'm sure the taxi fare will be a little more than 5€ as it's about the same distance as PP to Port Alcudia and thats 14€, if there's a few in your party though it will probably be worthwhile.;)

Hi Whaley and thanks for the info, great advice, I think it will be the bus, and the café sounds good, we may have time to kill as the flight should get in around 9.00 and if we miss the 9.30 bus up the next is 11 so could have a coffee and a quick look around the Plaza. If we dont choose the bus we will probable use resorthoppa to try that out as we haven't yet.
Thanks again everyone

Just be careful folks! My neighbour always travels this route but last year was robbed of her bag whilst sitting waiting for the bus. Easy to switch off, but needless to say she lost everything, passport, money etc, and more or less ruined the holiday. Keep alert.

Well we braved the bus up to the port from the airport and glad we did, it was very easy except we ended up with the taxi to the bus station as arriving it was very busy and we thought for the extra it was worth it, especially as we didn't know the way anyway.
The taxi from the airport to the bus station was 15 euros and took around 10 minutes, the lady dropped us right at the top of the stairs down to the entrance, between the two cafés, we stopped at the one on the left as we were running early.
We caught the 11.00 am bus up to the port and with a stop in Inca and getting off in the old town, we were sitting in the square in Ca n'Oleasa just after 12, the cost was an amazing 5.75 euros each. So for two it cost 26.50 euros each way. We will certainly do it again and now we have an idea of the bus station location we may try the bus from the airport next time.

Glad everything went ok with your journey and it really is easy peesy getting the bus from the airport, we do it in the winter when there are no other forms of transport, you just need to be aware that the last bus from Palma to PP is 20.30.:)

Hi Whaley, nice to meet you and your hubby last week, thanks, the bus was easy and we will difenately give the bus from the airport a try next time. :)

Just checked the Buses and trains link on the left ready for next time, I wish I had before I went recently, there is a link to the bus service we are talking about, number 1, with times, routes and everything you need to know to get from the airport to the bus station and back, definitely going to try it next time.

Well we did try it this time, so easy, you catch the Number one bus from in front of the car park, walk down from arrivals towards it, over the zebra crossing and the stop is directly on the right. Electronic signs tell you when they are due, every 15 minutes they run, cost is 2 euros, also signs on the bus tell you the next stop, look out for the Placa d'Espanya, takes around 10 minutes. Then down the steps to stop number five and straight up to the port by bus, so easy.

Going to be using the airport bus and the bus up from Palma again in January, are the bus times listed here still correct? Thanks in advance :-)

Thanks Sparky, I will check it out and print out the time tables, thanks mate.

Just checked the new timetable and worth mentioning, I think, is that the last bus from Palma to PP is still 20:30 everyday.;)
