thanks again

That's a relief....I had visions of waiting hours to cross the road just to get to the sea for a paddle.

cheers

PS PollensaezOP, what does your user name mean?

Re: thanks again

Hi,

my user name is actually 'pollensa' & I'm the founder/webmaster (webmistress actually!) of puertopollensa.com & this forum. I think the EzOP means I'm a EZ supporter because I pay for us to have a 'Gold' board with various features.

You, as individual users, can also subscribe to be a EzSupporter & get various benefits - see www.ezboard.com/ezuser/index.html

ooops sorry!

Hi Pollensa

sorry, I didn't realise you were the boss of the site. I found the website last month but did not discover the forum until last week.

May I say how impressed I have been by the site. It has been extremely useful to be able to find maps of the town, reviews on various hotels and to find so much other useful advice.

The forum is an excellent idea and allows holidaymakers to consult residents such as yourself about so many different things from crossing the road to dealing with mozzies!

Keep up the good work. I am sure the site will grow and grow when more people find out about it.

No doubt I will have a few more queries before arriving in the town in August.

regards

Broadreach

Re: ooops sorry!

Actually I have to confess to not being a resident although we do visit a lot & have several contacts in the resort including our advertising agent.

So like you I'm stuck in the UK until we visit again in August too...

Anyway thank you for the kind comments about the site. We actually reached over 50,000 visitors last month - so we're definitely growing.

re ooops sorry

Don't call her the boss, or she might get a big head, but whilst she's not listening let me say that this is the best site on the web. I log on about six or seven times a day (yes, how sad am I??). keep it up old girl!!:lol

Bypass

I have now discovered that the route of the second stage is well defined. It will go from the new roundabout to the old swimming pool in Pinaret and down the long wide road to the back of pollensa park and through there to llenaire round abot. It is not near my appartment thankfully but even so it seems totally unecessary to me. Does anyone agree?

new by-pass

Re the previous post asking is the new by-pass really necessary? We have just returned from 3 weeks holiday and though everything as enjoyable as our previous 30 or so holidays. I must confess I have never been troubled by so much NOISE. Our apartment runs parallel to the Formentor Road, on the days we sunbathed on our balcony i could not believe the volume of heavy traffic cutting through, Cement Mixers,Heavy Tankers,Open Top 30 tonne building material/rubbish vehicles et al, Coaches(with no-one aboard) it was more like holidaying on our own main street. I assume we are not the only ones troubled by this onslaught.

With all due respect to EdLad, we need a new Bye-pass, and we need one quick, before holidaymakers are put off completely

Motor Scooters

Sorry if im beginning to sound like Victor Meldrew!

I may be asking the impossible but can any thing be done about those imbeciles who run around (going nowhere) with the sole intent of disturbing everone with the unneccesary revving of their engines at all ours of the day and night. if we tried this in the uk we'd be locked up - pronto!

would it be to much to expect the authototies to make the fitting of silencers compulsary. Is their not some eec directive on controlling such noise? If so, Spain are part of ther eec can't they be compelled to do something about it!

Bypass

Smith Do you really think your appartment will be quieter when the Formentor link opens? You will still get all that noise but also allot of infill housing!!!!! As I said it does'nt really affect me but I think the bypass will turn PP into Alcudia.:(

By Pass

edlad, smiddy again (note not smith!!!)

genuinely glad if road does not disturb you. but my point is if all this heavy traffic is diverted then surely the noise levels will diminish, as for the extra housing, who knows? lets hope not!

Bypass

Smiddy - (sorry for the Smith mistake).

The new "Government" is pro tourism and building just look at all the work going on already. The bypass will be a great opportunity for the hideous "mcallum" type developments to run riot for the sake of a quick profit. These people do not care about the peace and beauty of the place. I have been coming to mallorca for over 13 years and whilst previously the pace of change was slow the past two years have seen it accellerate. The pinaret link will certainly destroy the peace of a beautifully quiet area.

Re: Bypass

Hi

8) We were on holiday in May and the work on the Formentor bit was going at a pace. Do you really think that they will build on what is now the road? Surely not, how will folk access the Pine Walk? Am I talking through the back of my neck again? We only know the area as regular once a year visitors.I agree that going towards Alcudia the way suggested seems to spoil some of the countryside down the back road there. We enjoy driving down there to our fave restaurants.8)

By pass

For some reason I had missed the updates on this post.
I live in LLenaire in front of the Bahia Pollensa Hotel.
I still cant work out where our end of this road is going to be.
Can anyone explain a little clearer to an old fool the exact route

New Road in Puerto Pollensa

Does anyone know anything about the progress of the new road?
I was last out in Puerto Pollensa in August, and they were constructing the roundabout in front of Caprabo.
It looked then like they were going to start the road round the back of town towards Formentor.
Are the going to do the Formentor bit before starting on the bit that goes round the back of Pinaret, Gommar and THe Pollensa Park?
Is anyone in the know?

by pass

just came back from pp 18th oct we drove to formentor, and the new road goes from the roundabout at caprabo all along the back past the football grounds and will join at the bottom of the hill at the formentor road.

Re: by pass

Hello, My wife & I recently had a holiday staying at the Pollensa Park Hotel, we had a marvellous time marred only by the heavy traffic cutting through the narrow street & out to the Seller roundabout, lets hope this bypass will solve the problem.

bypass

We have just booked to return to PP next summer for our second visit after having a lovely time in 2002. the villa we have booked looks as if it is going to be mountain side of the new road. Some friends of ours who have just returned from PP say it is going to be a two lane dual carriageway with limited places to cross. This is a little concerning as we will have to cross the new road every time we wish to visit the town or the beach. Has anyone got a map detailing the exact route of the new road as I am not familiar with the names of places mentioned in the above notes and can anyone confirm whether it is in fact going to be a dual carriageway or not. Cheers.

Re: bypass

Hi
Have just returned Its a two lane road with a service road each side starts just past the large super market and runs right along the back of pollensa there are going to be about 3 roundabouts on it by the looks one on the road up from the church and one at the foot of the boucker valley entrance. Dont think you will have to much trouble crossing, you used to cross the road in the town.

Bypass Opened!

For those who are avidly following the progress of the 'new road', you may like to know that the initial portion was officially 'opened' on Weds 27th Nov. This first stretch starts at the new Caprabo roundabout & finishes at the first roundabout off the Tramuntana road by restaurant La Vall - so it's pretty short! Apparently the rest of the road which joins up with Formentor road should be ready by Easter.

As stated above the road consists of a central 2-way carriageway (which may go fairly fast) with service roads on each side to give access to side-roads. There are roundabouts at Caprabo, Tramuntana (La Vall) & Avenida Bochoris (path to Boquer valley) & maybe another when it joins the Formentor road further on.

Work on phase 2 through llenaire will start some time next year. All plans can be viewed at the Ajuntament in Pollensa.
