Record Car Hire

I think that there have been a few other posts on Record but couldnt' find them.

We have hired cars with them for a few years without any problems. This year we booked a 7 seater vehicle for collection at the airport on 29th July. We had confirmation of our booking, etc. We queued for an hour only to be told that they had no record of our booking (even through we had the confirmation with us!) and anyway, they didn't have a 7 seater vehicle available!! As far as they were concerned that was it!

We then had to get taxis from the airport to PP. We tried to hire a vehicle in the port but it was impossible as it was high season. We eventually managed to get two cars for a week but had to pay resort prices as opposed to pre-booked prices.

Record really weren't bothered - has anybody else had any problems or was it just a blip?

What a nightmare!

We use them for all our visits and have always found them to be very reliable and keenly priced. Each booking you make earns you euro points that you can deduct from the cost of the next hire.

Did you have a full copy of your internet booking? If you did and it was still ignored it may be worth taking up with the company now you are back home. There is a customer services tel no on the website as well as a comments form.

Yes we had everything with us - internet booking confirmation, etc.

Their view was simply that it didn't matter whether we had it or not, they didn't have a vehicle anyway - so tough!!

Like you, we have used them for a number of years.

Actually we have been talking as a family and have decided that it is actually quite nice to get taxis to and from the airport. We can have a drink on the plane or at lunch in the resort before we leave, and the driver doesn't have to worry about a thing.
We are now looking at this for next year. We will still book a vehicle before we go, but pick it up and drop it back in the resort rather than the airport.

At least something good came out of it!!

First time using Record for me this trip - booked online.
A bit of a nightmare wait on arrival.
They have a numbered ticket scheme which makes the queuing fair - we just had to wait 2 hours to be seen.
They had no small cars left by the time my turn came so we were upgraded to a brand new Xsara Picasso - plenty of room for two of us , so all was not lost.
Sods law isn't it ?
We normally use Centauro and have always had to queue, even at the little back window - this time their desk was quiet and queue free.
