I have spent many a happy hour finding the best and most economic car hire company.
The best I have found are Record Rent A Car , www.recordrentacar.com.
They are based at the airport with a check in desk within the baggage hall , unlimited milliage , all in insurance and cheap.In addition they are a reputable large Spanish campany , and only take your money when you arrive.

I have just phone Record Rent A Car and according to the young lady that answered they no longer have an office in Puerto Pollenca , however they still operate from the airport (which is the service I use)

Record and Europa have always given us a good service but you should note you may get a better financial deal if you book through an agent rather than direct. We are informed the reason for this is that the agents have block bookings and therefore able to pass on better discounts. Kelkoo seem to be the best at the moment although Auto Europe (through Mytravellite site) and Sky Cars are giving good prices. Auto Europe also have an up-grade package (ours was from a Corsa to a 206 Peugeot) at no extra cost. We went out in December and one problem was that Record could not up-grade at the airport. Also upon our return (24th) their airport office was not open just a drop off key box.....always worrying that something can happen to the car between dropping off the key and the car being collected.
