Just to clarify, although we have only just removed the adverts for Private Rentals, advertisers were given 3 months notice and should have ensured that they had exchanged contact details with anyone who had made bookings.

You can still find a list of all properties that were advertised here: list-all-properties and this gives links to any who have decided to advertise with HomeAway.

If you have booked a property and need to confirm any details, do contact the advertiser - you should have their contact details as all booking arrangements are made direct with owners. You may also find that they are now advertising elsewhere, so do ask if you want to see photos etc.

Many of the advertisers were also local agents and these can still be found here Rent Villas, Apartments from Agents in Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca Majorca as well as the specialist UK-based villa companies here Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca Majorca Holidays - Villa Companies

This site no longer allows owners to advertise but if people who used to advertise now decide to advertise with a company called Home and Away Rentals then this site will provide a link to the new advert

The problem is that many of the people who used to advertise with this site do not want to advertise with Home and Away for various reasons - cost to advertise is a lot more expensive and also many owners I have spoken to only wanted to rent on this site because they wanted people who were just interested in Puerto Pollensa rather than people who are just searching for a holiday in general. The logic being that they felt happier renting to people who wanted a PP type holiday.

So many of the properties would only have been advertised on this site - now they are probably not advertised anywhere - hence no internet presence

You would have communicated directly with the people you booked with so perhaps you could contact them via email or by telephone

Totally agree it's cd. Many owners have hunted out other places to advertise with that give competitive rates. Unfortunately it means that there are far more sites to track down and look through now when searching for a PP holiday. Somehow I don't think it will affect how many still holiday in PP, but it does make it harder to source exactly what you want. :o

Please help –

It’s a pity that this website’s own rentals info (which was an excellent service) has had to be closed down; but I fully understand the reasoning. I had recommended that advert source to many people; and it was the only one I have used for years..

But now it’s me who needs recommendations –

It seems I will now be trawling through Home and Away website. But can forum members recommend other websites that are trustworthy, easy to use and focused on Puerto Pollensa that I should now inspect for private rentals. (If the forum rules ban giving that sort of “competitor” info, please can you PM me).

Thanks; and genuine thanks to “pollensa” for what was an excellent rentals advert service over many years.

The rentals facility here will be missed :(

I hope it not against the rules to mention it but the action is at airbnb.
Safer than owners direct or home away as airbnb hold the money until after the rental starts before releasing it to the the owner/advertiser.
The chance of getting scammed is very slim as long as you follow the rules and never pay anyone directly. Only pay airbnb directly by credit card etc. If anyone sends you an email asking for a bank transfer or any other form of direct payment it is a scam.
Many of the adverts on airbnb are agencies or companies so have a good read as they are not all people that are renting their own place out.

Good point. There are many rental advertisers that operate that safe way though now, another one is Holiday Lettings.

Have read some very bad reports about AirBNB Re fraud apartments not being as advertised not cleaned etc

We have used Owners Direct with no problem but Im sure others have !! Would be nice to have a local agency to deal with Holiday Lettings is I think owned by Trip Adviser You have to put a damage deposit down but found it difficult to see how much this was on their website !Would suggest anyone does some googling if the are either letting their own property with anyone or trying to rent one

Hi Copper. Re Holiday Lettings. If the accommodation is owned privately, then it will be the owner who decides the security deposit, the same as it was on this site. If agency owned then it will be the agency. Same goes for cleaning etc. There is a direct link to the owners of the property on which queries can go straight to them so any queries can be answered straight away before booking. Hope this helps!

Would it be against forum rules for people to state their requirements and welcome Private messages from anyone who could help?

I know this would not have been allowed when the site had paid for renters but now this service is no longer available I wondered whether an accommodation wanted thread would be possible

Only Pollensa (Zelda) can answer this question but i am sure that renters have often responded to requests on the forum for rental availability via PMs ;).

This is a general discussion forum and whilst general recommendations are fine and other companies can be named, the main website (which finances this forum) is still dependant on advertising income including our affiliate partnerships with other rental and holiday websites which is why we don't allow directs links to other websites (unless advertisers). We've always been quite clear about this.

As Sparky says, there has always been the occasional request for accommodation on the forum and we will always refer visitors to the Local Agents and UK Villa Agents as well as the list provided by HomeAway at Private Villas/Apts to Rent but we know that sometimes forum members respond to these via Private Messages.

So at this moment, an Accommodation Wanted thread is not appropriate.

And do remember that if you were interested in any of the properties previously listed on the main site, many are now advertising on HomeAway (and new links are being added all the time), they can be found at List All Properties. Also a lot of the previous properties were offered by agents who are listed in the Agents pages mentioned above.

I have for many years advertisied on this site and agree that it is a bonus to have response from people looking and often knowing the area of Pollensa. Spain-holiday is good as it breaks down Spain including the Balearics generally into very small areas which means anyone looking for Pollensa can find quite easily without having to compete with sites which operate worldwide. I have tried over the years Owners Direct and Holiday Lettings and frankly were not impressed. Anyone seeking a holiday in an specific area will find themselves inundated with emails for weeks to come pushing various property. From an advertisers point of view too it was found that enquiries therefore where many but the bookings few due to the number of properties listed and number of enquiries potential renters were making. Even to follow up could be greeted with 'where' and 'what site'. Security is a problem of course as with anything bought online. Paypal (loved by many and not so loved by others) is a consideration as of course credit cards.

appartments to rent

I was so sorry to see that the site is no longer showing individual rentals. Having to go through agents can only put up the prices. Thank goodness we have the names and email addresses of at least 4 properties as some get booked up very quickly.:(

Hi

Please can members who previously advertised their apartments for rent via the forum site, let me know who they now find the best (company and/or site) to advertise through now.

We have bought an apartment and are looking to use it for rentals.

Many Thanks

Please read the last few posts where there have been a number of suggested companies and websites ;).

Such a shame the private rentals has gone :( I understand why but I used to love browsing through them, it always felt more "homely" than dealing with the big boys! I am looking for a week in July and have trawled the usual big sites with no luck so far!

Do agree with that Felt as though it was safe

Everything was very clear what it had and what it didnt Which in some of these sites it certainly isnt

Definately didnt have a very good flat last September when we rented off some other site Photos must have been taken a long long time earlier when it was in good condition !!

We certainly dont want luxury but space and plumbing that works and cleaniness

I found going onto the 'I love Puerto Pollensa' page on Facebook worked a treat and there's an 'I love to advertise on pp'. I asked if there were any private rentals available for my dates and got lots of replies directly with the owners.
