Restaurants closing.

With so many restaurants closing down and many shops also closed is our beloved PP starting to decline or is it merely a sign that people are still unsure what brexit will do to the Spanish holiday economy ?

I think it is more a case of natural change. Judging by the comments in the press Mallorcan tourism shows no sign of letting up and I do not think that Brexit will have much effect.

As i have said elsewhere, at the moment there are only a couple of restaurants that have closed down and they could well be re-opened by the time the season starts again. A few have changed owners which i think is a sign of confidence but we will have to wait and see what the new season brings, change isn't always a bad thing and maybe PP will benefit from it.

With regard to shops being closed all i can say is that most of them always close in winter so again we will have to see what happens in Spring. Glass half full .

You don't have to go back many years when the exchange rate was £1 for 1 euro and that had no effect on the holiday trade in PP

Think the closing of establishmnets and people retiring reflects the era and how the port grew from the 1970s Bars and restaurants opened by people of similar ages . With many of the established places still having the original owners . When i first came to the port Paco at the golden lion was a young barman he is now in his sixties and his son now takes lead role . I Remember the year TOLO moved from Alcudia to the port many years ago and spent some great February nights enjoying his company .
The years go by and the port changed and people retire but Pollensa will always be Pollensa
