Re: RESTAURANTS OPEN IN FEBRUARY

Good signings today BL here's hoping Smiddy enjoy you trip.

I am of to Budapest on Sunday for a few days not the same as PP

Thanks for the good wishes folks! We had a wonderful time. Unfortunately El Posito upgrading and are not opening till a later later this month. But, O Lume and Los Faroles kept us very happy. Jaime even gave me a part-time job of stocking the log fire:lol Weather seemed to be borrowed from May/June!

As some of you may or may not know Mr & Mrs Smiddy share the same birthday (Feb 1st), well last night were dining in another little gem of a restaurant, Hibiscus, only one other couple were there and it came up in the conversation about birthdays and it transpired the ladies birthday was also 1st Feb, three quarters of the evenings clientle all had the same birthday, amazing.

BL, Yes planning to head over to Barcelona to see the bhoys, from what i saw of them on Sun i'm beginning to think we've got a chance:smokin Trying to coax Toni to visit Glasgow for the 1st game, he's thinking about it;)

Thanks to this website I now know and like O Lume (fried milk oh yes ;) ). But where is Los Faroles? From what I've read it's on the beach front - would really appreciate it if someone could tell me more.

Smiddy, if you are talking to Toni, tell him Mark, the Edinburgh 'Cule' will be at Celtic Park for the Barca game. I have a seat in the Barca section as always.

Visca Barca :D

Hi guys,

please try & keep this thread on track. There is Jane's wonderful Tapas Bar - now yuku'd for footie chat.

Los Faroles is on the front beyond the Marina i.e. towards Alcudia - more or less opposite the car park (I think!). I think it & Brisa Marina are owned by same people & specialise in fresh fish.

fried milk

what exactly does this dish consist of and is it a starter or dessert

Re: fried milk

Fried Milk is a dessert. The O Lume version is a bit like a sort of firm lemon flavoured custard with a crispy coating. I have found a recipe for it at the address below, but have no idea if thats how O Lume make theirs:

Hibiscus

Smiddy

where is Hibiscus

Have never tried it but later this week could be out first time .... if we knew where it was

Isn't Hibiscus on the opposite corner to Neptune's tapas, just coming into the square? Or am I completely confused!

Thats the one. Almost any time I have been in Neptuno the Hibiscus has looked very quiet, although it does have a reasonable reputation.

Can anyone suggest which restaraunts will be open in Pollensa old town this weekend and next week ?

We are visiting for a week from this Sunday 24th February, and need to find places to eat ideally in Old town Pollensa for Sunday night and every night during the week again in Pollensa old town if possible.

Is Piccolo Forno open every night at this time of year?

also Eu Centro is a favourite of ours, not sure what nights it is open,

Any suggestions appreciated,

need to find restaurants for:

Sunday 24th Feb.
Monday 25th
Tuesday 26th
Wednesday 27th
Thursday 28th ( My Birthday :) )
Friday 29th

Thank you,

Mark.

Hi
I don't know for sure but I would imagine that La Font del Gall will be open. We were in Pollensa last year around the first week in March and it was open. Cafe l'illa should also be open. Whilst not a restaurant it is still reasonable.

Hotel Son Sant Jordi has a good restaurant and is open all year. Cal Lloro may also be open.

My recollection from last year however, was that both Ca N'Olesa and Il Gairdino were closed:mad:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Sharon,

Not had any problems finding places to eat, dont know why I was worrying.

In Pollensa old town Picolo Forno is only closed on Mondays. Busy with locals and tourists every night. Is a bit of a smoky reataraunt :( Food and service are great :)

Eu Centro is closed on Wednesdays. Good food and really good prices.

More later, its only wednesday so time for a few more yet..

P.S. The weather is fantastic for February :D never thought we would eat breakfast and lunch outside in the garden of the Villa in February :)

Mark.

Mark

I am so envious reading your posting and wish I was there. I can't wait until 17th March for my next trip.

Keep on posting and making all of us green!
