He sounds like a very cultured man. I have loads of cook books but just can't translate from word to dich!

Hubby is a happy bunny this morning, his copy of the book has arrived (Amazon are amazing), i have had a quick glance and it's quite impressive.........now what can hubby cook me for my dinner ;);).
 
Part three on tonight, looks good

Rick and his old but trusty camper van head for the land of El Cid, with its classic landscape of castles and vast plains. Then it's off to La Mancha, the hot, dry heart of Spain, famous for its rustic dishes and wine.
 
I think Jamie from O Lume comes from this part of Spain, we mentioned to him that we had been to Sadiago Compastela and i'm sure he said that he came from there
 
Santiago de Compostela is actually in Galicia, not La Mancha (much further to the north west)

Dunno whether the guy comes from the city but certainly when we last in the restaurant (2008), there were well known Galician dishes on the menu.
 
He is definitely from Galicia - but not sure exactly where.
 
Rick is a massive fan of mallorca but especially the rural parts inland,he enjoys meeting people who cook simple country food.
He is my neighbour in the UK so I get to talk about Spain a fair bit with him.
 
Although i enjoy the programes they are essentially a re-run of the "floyd on spain" series. Not suprising as it's the same director (D Pritchard). Have any of you noticed he is even using some of the same background music from the original series. Still it's about spanish food (my passion) and that's all the matters.:)
 
I enjoy all programmes about Spain and food and like Rick but I feel the programme is a bit lightweight and skips over things too quickly whereas Floyd's Spain was a bit more in-depth.
As you say though it's all worth watching!

Right on cue you appear with a picture of who was in my opinion the cooking god of tv chefs. I bet he's got a glass of the old tinto in his hand right now.:)

Floyd on Spain back on Sky, Sky travel 252 I think, watched the one from Mallorca last night, Keith was on good form
 
My partner's sister and her Mallorcan husband hate that episode. They always say that nothing he cooks is "authentic".

Now, personally, I don't care a jot for authenticity in food (I do care how it tastes) but I always reckon what the pair of them mean is that it isnt like how his mother used to cook a dish. And we all know that mothers have their own ways of cooking a particular dish.
 
I know what they mean, but there are some good shots of Soller and the train

Interesting point about not being 'authentic'.

The one thing iv'e concluded having spoken at great length to many spanish & Majorcan people over many years on the subject of food is that there is no such thing. I have still to find two of them that can agree on the method or ingredients of any one dish. :)

Absolutely. In any cuisine. Like was my mother's Lancashire Hotpot "authentic" or just her version? And is mine less authentic because it's not quite like hers? Or is it more authentic? Or was the Michelin starred version I had at Northcote more authentic, because the chef did Hotpot on "Great British Menu"?

One too many 'Authentics' for my taste:):)
 
Also enjoying 'flavours of Spain' on sky travel, tonight's show includes a visit to Mallorca where he watches the chief at reids hotel cooking
