Just read this item in the Majorca Daily Bulletin-

Walkway from Pollensa to the Port
NEWSDESK

POLLENSA
THE road from Pollensa to the Port has been a black spot for pedestrians for years but now it appears that the council is finally going to make it safe for walkers and cyclists.

Pollensa Council and the Balearic Ministry for the Environment have reached an agreement to build a pavement down the right of the busy road and the walkway should be open in time for the summer. Work is due to start almost immediately and the wide pavement is going to be built on top of the new sewage pipes which are being laid between the Port and the sewage plant on the outskirts of the town.

The path will be lined by trees to provide some shade and benches will be dotted along the route and, according to the Mayor Joan Cerda, the new walkway is going to be the first of many new routes being drawn up to attract more hikers to the area.

Sounds great news for our hikers!!

That does sound like great news! That road is very busy and very fast and quite hazardous to walk along.

Good news! Hope they also do the first bit from Capabro at Siller up to the Gomar roundabout - walking on the hard shoulder is not nice!

Not sure that the Mayor Joan Cerda has quite got the hang of what hikers do!

How many people walk along the main road from Pollensa to Puerto Pollensa? Much better to use the old road for this I would have thought.

As Lala says, the stretch that most people walk on is from Capabro at Siller up to the Gomar roundabout, and the council probably won't bother doing this bit.

Your right lala, years of walking with kids and push chairs wasn't nice, or safe especially the stagger back in the dark in the evening before the lights were put in. I hope the put a path all the way up from the port to the Habitat apartment, not sure they mean all the way up to Pollenca, that’s a long way and certainly wouldn’t be ready for the summer.

In my madness(cleverness) we hired a bike for 9euros for 4 hrs as we were going to cycle to Formentor lighthouse...1st time in PP & discovered after 5 mins we arrived at the bottom of the hill beside the football ground & only Lance Armstrong could only cycle up that hill !!! With 3hrs 55mins left on the bike no idea what to do until we tried to have a lokk at the military zone....Policeman on bike arrived and asked what we were doing...I explained the situation & he said try the cycle to Pollensa....Muchos Gracias mr Policeman cos we would nvr have discovered the steps..which we did with a few rests on the way ( I haven't been on a bike for 10yrs !!) & what a view !! ps the cycle to Pollensa a child could do as the cycle patch was brilliant & we felt very safe & the journey was extremely flat aprt from the steps (we left the bikes at the bottom !!)
