SWS - are there boats which go from from PP? The only ones I think I have seen go from Porta Soller which would leave us with the same problem re. the bus timings.

Not done Sa Calobra (yet) but to give us more time in Soller we take the 1000am bus from PP to Soller and then take the train back to Palma (through the orange groves) the last bus from Palma back to PP is 8.30pm, this gives you plenty of time to explore and the journey is delightful.
I believe you can get a boat trip from Puerto Soller to Sa Calabra, obviously this would be during the holiday season.
