Here goes...another poll:

Where do you consider the best sangria is?

What makes it the best?

" 2 Weeks to go !!!! "

NEVER had good "real" Sangria In PP unless I made it myself! (it's the extra Soberano!)

Have had truly dreadful stuff in particular at Daina and Sis Pins but could mention others....

What is the best recipe for a good sangria. I put spanish brandy in mine?

We went over to C'an Picafort for a spot of shopping and use a bar as the meeting point. When we all sat down - I fancied a glass of Sangria and my mum noticed that they did a Sangria Cocktail with a cava base instead of red wine. It was absolutely fantastic - can't really recommend C'an Picafort but definitely the cocktail!!
Llenaire's always used to do a good traditional Sangria.

Hi Mr Red,

Here's my recipe - not sure how athentic but always goes down a treat!

1 lemon, 1 orange, sugar, cointreau, Soberano, Red wine, ice and lemonade.

Slice up the fruit and mash down with a wooden spoon into the jug, add couple tablespoonfuls of sugar then large glass Soberano and large glass cointreau. Best now to leave this in the fridge for a couple of hours to let it...mature.

Add red wine, lemonade and ice stir well, taste and add more sugar/ brandy if needed.

Best make 2 jugs I promise ;)

I think it all depends on your mood.

A few years ago when the Hostal Bahia had tables on the beach they did a lovely Sangria - tasted a bit like Cherry liqueur. One evening we were a little later than usual & the tables were all full of people dining.

Se we went into the Voramar supermarket bought a carton of 'sangria', a large packet of crisps, some plastc cups & had a lovely evening drink sitting on the sunloungers - free then of course...

Soberano is a Spanish brandy and what all good sangias should include to give it that extra kick :p

re:sangria

Try real sangria at Bodega can Ferra. Each jug made to order.Very nice indeed but beware very very strong as well

Re: re:sangria

thanks....I will buy some when I go to bring home...

Re: re:sangria

MrRed,

You'll get a litre of Soberano from Mir for 7euro in a excess baggage friendly plastic bottle! You can then make you own sangria at home! Yum - think I'll make some now - oh it's a little early BOO! :o

Re: re:sangria

No liquids allowed through security so unless your prepared to risk packing bottles in your hold luggage you cannot buy booze until you get to the duty free at Palma airport.

Shame as alcohol and perfume much cheaper in the tax free shops in PP :\

Re: re:sangria

Hi Debz - I always buy bottles and shove them in the case wrapped in a poly bag and the beach towels. So far never had a broken bottle (touch wood) but have had a wee leak before! The plastic bottles of booze are brill for this purpose and weigh considerably less - hurrah!

To be honest - by the time I get to the end of a holiday all the clothes are so whiffy with sun cream that I couldn't care less if I never saw them again! Such a treat opening the cases and facing the laundry when you return isn't it? :o

Re: re:sangria

Hi Lala I have also done this on a couple of occasions but always put them in hubby's case..just in case :D

Don't talk about laundry, I'm still ploughing my way through it and I only went for 6 days....and did a couple of machine loads while I was there :rolleyes

Could do with a lovely cold glass of sangia right now!

Re: re:sangria

Having partaken of many a jug of the beloved Sangria, some good, some bad ane some bloody awful,as well as some just fantastic in 36 years of visiting the Port we don't drink it as often now as we used to.
Here is a receipe I was given many years ago.

Ice in a large jug
Sliced orange and lemon
Cubed fruit, anything you have to hand
Strawberries and grapes
Sugar if desired
Triple Sec or cointreau, a generous glug of
Wine, can be either Red or White
Brandy, I use Fundador here, it is easier to buy than other brands
Soda water
Lemonade

Mix and drink,

White Sangria benefits from the addition of Cava.

Enjoy!!!

That recipe has a very familiar ring to it Ru! Very reminiscent of happy days & nights in EL BARCO:D
