My son and his girlfriend decided to visit Formantor Beach this week, but on finding that the little rustic car park was now closed off, and the "main" carpark now charges €8 to park no matter how long you stay - and they only wanted to have a walk for an hour or so and grab a coffee - they decided not to stop. They cant be the only ones who have found these charges extortionate, and it must be affecting the businesses that have tried so hard to make a go of things there. :(

Have to agree, we used to go over regularly by car but having watched the prices to park increase year on year from 2/3 Euros to 8 we don't go nearly so often. Others must be same?

The parking ticket this year on the reverse seemed to be aimed at coaches which seems unfair to those in cars paying 8 Euros. More would surly use if it were cheaper (don't like parking a hired car on some of the road verges).

Do you mean the area next to the jetty when you say the rustic carpark? If so that was landscaped a few years back. The main carpark has been 8€ for a while and the other car park near the beach restaurant is 10€!!! Going to Formentor is not a cheap day as they have also increased the price of the beds Exorbitant as you say but think, as with the problem with the beach that prompted Tora's petition, it is a ploy by the hotel. Not sure any businesses are suffering because as far as I know the hotel runs the whole shebang there.
