Sea Plane Splash In 2019

Just spotted that the dates for the Seaplane Splash In for this year (2019) have been announced.....and it's from 1st to 5th May 2019 (changed from the last few days of April 2019 till 1st May 2019)

Hopefully more details of the programme will be published in due course.

The programme for the 4th Sea Plane Splash-In in Puerto Pollensa has just been published - and the dates have changed a bit. Means we miss the whole caboosh now but our friends will be delighted! :rolleyes:

Here is a rough translation of the events starting now on 1st May 2019:-

Day May 1st 2019 (Wednesday)
In the morning reception of seaplanes in San Luis (Menorca) Presentation of documents and pilots, lunch and transfer to the hotel, with cultural visit around the island.
NOTE, the required documentation will be sent to the colonel at the base of the Port of Pollensa for the verification of the data

2nd May 2019 (Thursday)
At 9 in the morning cultural visit around the island, lunch and in the afternoon transfer to San Luis airfield
At 4.30 p.m. departure of the pilots towards the Port of Pollensa
At 18:30 presentations of the pilots to the military authorities, transfer to the hotels and free afternoon
At 20.30 official reception of the participants

3rd May 2019 (Friday)
At 9 in the morning transfer of the pilots of the hotels to the Military Base, general Briefing of 'agreed action plan' .
At 10 o'clock, transfer of the hydros to different places, during the morning flights according to the flight plan.
At 17 hours transfer of the hydros to the military base for washing with fresh water. Note the seaplanes during this morning may make their flights to Son Bonet to refuel gas)
At 6 pm We are making arrangements for a visit to the Monastery of Lluch in the Sierra de Tramuntana World Heritage Site, with dinner in Lluch of typical Mallorcan products.

May 4th (Saturday)
At 9 in the morning transfer of the pilots of the hotels at the Military Base, general Briefing of 'agreed action plan' of the participants
Between 10 and 1 pm, visit static exhibition at the military base. Reception of authorities. Note a formal request has been made to the JEMA in order to offer to the public of Mallorca and participants, a visit to the base with the collaboration of the base's Air Force
At 14 o'clock meal
At 16 hours transfer of participants to the hotels and free afternoon.

May 5th 2019 (Sunday)
At 9 in the morning transfer of the pilots of the hotels to the Military Base, general Briefing of 'agree action plan' by the participants
Departure at the discretion of the participants to their places of origin
 
It was changed because of the calling of Snap General Election in Spain.!!!
 
There have been a few amendments to the programme of events which was published earlier. Here are the main points.

Thursday 2nd May 2019 - the various guest seaplanes will be arriving in Puerto Pollensa from 17.30 hours. The owners/pilots will then have a private official reception in the Hotel Don Pedro in Cala San Vicente with the civil and military dignitaries.

Friday 3rd May 2019, from 10am the visiting seaplanes will be allowed to fly and carry out various manoeuvres in the Bay and surrounding area (according to an agreed flight plan).

Saturday 4th May 2019, visits to the military base will be allowed from 10.00 hours to 13.00 hours. (Do remember to take your passports if this is like previous visits)

Sunday 5th May 2019, visiting sea planes are due to leave the base from 10.00 hours onwards.
 
Just back from a very interesting trip to the Military base, congratulations are due to Colonel Salguero and his team for organising a very friendly visit.:)
 
We have friends currently holidaying the Port. They too enjoyed the friendly hospitality during their visit to the Military Base.
