The Easter edition of TOTN reports that: "From the early evening to early morning the (frontline) road is exclusively for pedestrians."
Does anyone know if that is true? Or do they simply mean no cars....?

Please see post #115 of this thread.

I have to say for a PP old timer of over 3 decades that has become used to the gradual decline and condition of the roads and pavements along the front, the new layout looks stunning.:)

Absolutely agree! Despite my reservations about safety when crossing the cycle lane, changing to a one way system and improving all the surfaces, considerably raises the quality of the area.

The main promenade (Passeig d'Anglada Camarasa) is a pedestrian zone with clear 'no cycling' signs at every entrance. In 20 years of visiting the Port I have never seen anyone cycling through this zone! (tongue firmly in cheek)

Looking at the SeeMallorca webcam yesterday afternoon and this morning, are they polishing the tarmac on the cycle lane?

They look to be putting some coating on it, I still think it will be blue like the other cycle lanes on the island.

Blue would certainly help with peoples concerns re differentiating but just my opinion black would look better.

Not sure if they will paint it blue or any other colour as they have already white lined some parts.

I would hate it to be painted blue but think something needs to be done to differentiate it from the pavement as every time I look on the webcam I see cyclists riding along the road.

I will reserve judgment until I've seen it in the flesh next week :)

To be fair to the cyclists, i noticed them on the road yesterday but the cycle lane was closed from Tamarells towards Llenaire while they were working on it.

You need to see it with your own eyes as the webcam doesn't really do it justice ;).

Also there are plenty of pedestrians not using the crossing points.

Ah that explains it sparky. Mind you maybe it's ok for cyclists to ride on the road or do they by law have to use a cycle path if one's available? Anyone know?
I'm looking forward to seeing it next week as I'm sure the different areas are clearer than they appear on the webcam :)

LOL. That's put a different slant on things Debz :D

Out on Sunday for a couple of days. Maybe see yous.

They actually grind the top layer to get the finish as on the first section, which makes it look paler.

Well when we saw fit we thought it was a great improvement and it seemed really clear which bits were for cars/people/bikes

Of course the not so great concrete pavements are still with us but they somehow don’t look quite so bad anymore ........ though of course it would be so much better if they could be improved

But on balance - looking so much better than a year ago

As I was meandering along the cycle path this morning I noticed that a few of the bricks on the road section in front of tolos are breaking up and a bit further along outside simbads workers were spreading sand over the road so it looks like some remedial work is going on.

Yes this was reported in the local press, apparently there are faults in the cobbles in a few areas and the contractors are carrying out repairs during the evenings to prevent disruption to traffic flow.
