They can still implement the original plans which have approval already, the changes they want to make are following suggestions form locals and businesses that will change some of the road plans and maybe even make it fully pedestrianised after 8 at night, which I think is a great idea!!

I think its a great idea as well. I'd just like to see it. I know people that were coming here 30 years ago and it was being spoken about then:D

Thirty years ago there weren't no proper beach.
If Pedestrianisation is to happen after 8.00pm PLEASE PLEASE
can we have the STREET LIGHTS switched off.
POLLENSAFAN running around Naked will scare the kids and other law abiding citizens.

That's not what you said last time you saw me :D

According to the MDB work will start next week :-

Work on the pedestrianisation scheme for Puerto Pollensa will begin next week, the town hall having unveiled its modifications to a project that was initiated by the previous administration. The intention is to gradually make the coastal road fully pedestrianised, but the initial phase will apply to the section from the yacht club roundabout to the Calle Elcano, i.e. opposite the Stay restaurant pier. Here, full pedestrianisation, i.e. exclusion of cars, is anticipated at certain times of the day.

I have tried four times to post a message and the site throws me out

- the initial phase will apply to the section from the yacht club roundabout to the Calle Elcano -
So just the width of the Harbour/Marina to start with!
A little underwhelming perhaps! But at least it is (or will be) a start.
Maybe they will get a little further prior to the 2016 holiday season?

Should make launching boats and taxis and buses moving around even more fun. You could not write the script:confused:

According to the MDB article
...Ultimately, the bus stop by the yacht club roundabout will be moved to a place on the bypass, which was a solution envisaged under the old plan of 2009. The taxi rank by the roundabout will be shifted to the marina car park.

I saw that, I'm all for the pedestrainisation, but not for moving the bus stop, you can surely have the buses running up and down Joan XXIII and stopping at the current bus stop, its need to be in the center surely!

I might be missing something or the plans may have changed for the umpteenth time again but I thought they were going to have one way traffic, I.e. from town to Alcudia which would have allowed for buses?

You're right in that surely a bus station ideally needs to be central?

Someone's backside needs severely kicking. How can even the Spanish not have worked the plans out after decades of being in the pipeline?!

If you look back I posted along time ago "Be careful what you wish for" This whole project is full of flaws because we simple do not have the depth of road structure to deal with Buses taxis boats etc etc. This is not Alcudia which is way bigger. We are a small port lets not forget that :(

LMAO The answer to [ How can even the Spanish not have worked the plans out after decades of being in the pipeline?![/QUOTE] is in the question:D

Surely I am not the only one who is not the least bit surprised by all this.

I am not much in favour of the pedestrianisation but surely filling up the only car park on the front with taxis is madness.

No need for a car park if you cannot take your car into the Port.:D it just gets better and better :D wonder how long before they put it all back together again . That is if they ever take it apart.

Well it looks like work will start on Monday, this has been posted on FB.

This morning it has carried the signature of the Act of staking the pedestrianization of the first line of the Port de Pollença, Then, we have interviewed the Councillor for urban development, who explained the project. We inform you that starting Monday the works, for this reason the Council reports:-will be closed the traffic from Paseo Saralegui, from the roundabout to the Elcano Street Rock Engineer. There will be a single access to get in and out of the parking lot of Ports. The drivers that come from Alcúdia, you will find all the instructions with alternative ways to enter the Port de Pollença.
-The bus stop is at Calle Roger de Flor, right behind the building Miquel Capllonch (past Posts). And stop of taxis will remain at the same site.
-While supplies last works, you will find the tourist information office in the building Miquel Capllonch.,

Rumour has it that the engineers are Laurel & Hardy. :D Oh how we'll laugh

Am I the only one looking forward to seeing this work being done? I personally think it's great the car park and bus stop are being moved away from the front. It's not as if anywhere in the town is that far to walk to and most people on holiday spend their time just mooching around.
