If that's the new curb the path will be considerable wider.
Looks good.

I think from the plans there is a parking bay for deliveries just by here which may explain why its wider there, then it goes down to about half that if you look at the other pictures

#257 - Another wonderful 'action' photo taken in PP.
So that's what sunshine looks like - a bit of a rarity at present in the UK.

Apparently one of, if not the main reason, work has been slow is because the building company put most of the employees on the dole so as not to have to pay them over the Christmas and New Year period, when they would have been off quite a few days anyway.

Seems that it is now back to business, and there is money in the bank to pay for it.

Wow, have just looked at the web cam up at tamarells. They are certainly good at the descruction side of things. With the Pavment & the road kerbs now up all the way to as far as tamarells they have certainly given themselves a mighty task to complete "whatever stage 1 is " by end march 2016.

Interesting , very interesting.

I would be great if stage 1 is finished by the end of March. We come out 3rd of April for ten days, would be great to cycle into town on the new surface.

This is a report from the DDM here :- La empresa constructora incrementa la plantilla para acelerar las obras del Moll - Diario de Mallorca translated by Google.

The construction company staff increases to accelerate the works of Moll.

A dozen workers rush jobs with the aim of finalizing the nearest part to Ports before the arrival of Easter.
For several weeks, the contractor of the works of semipeatonalización running on the first line of Port de Pollença has increased the number of workers in order to accelerate the project and fulfill the stipulated time. It is recalled that the middle of last December, the opposition claimed that the works progressed at a very slow pace and pollencí government team had to intervene to require the builder to resume building after finding that only three workers working in pedestrianization project.
The Deputy Mayor of Urban Pollença, Tomeu Encrypt Bennàssar (Junts Avançam), confirmed yesterday that these days a dozen workers work in construction in the first line and expressed confidence that the work can meet the timing and completion of the first phase before the next start of the high tourist season. "It is true that so far has not been a very high rate, but so is that progress has been made," said the councilman.

Later in the industry

The most advanced part of the project coincides with the area that is the responsibility of Ports de les Illes Balears. In this sector "it is only the placement of the pavement and facilities that do not pass on sidewalks, and the installation of new lighting, usually the end." The company has also removed all the debris that was accumulated at the request of the City Council because, Encrypt, "offered a picture of neglect."
The Deputy Mayor added that the company knows that the works must be completed in the scheduled time and "If they see that they will meet deadlines incorporate more workers" because the construction "does not extend the work more than necessary."
The works were awarded in the last legislature the company INCOC by the Consortium plazas Tourist, dependent of the Ministry of Tourism. The agreement specifies that the Consistory pollencí is responsible for the technical direction of the works.
In this regard, the deadline set in the tender for the works was eight months, although the winning company offered as one of the best cut in two months the project. Work began last November, so that the city of Pollença expected to be completed next May, shortly before the start of the summer season.
The works will not be carried out in one fell swoop. It is scheduled to be paralyzed for about two weeks on the occasion of Easter, which this year coincides with the last week of March. The Consistory expected before the Easter break, the share Ports area is completely finished. After the festive period, the company will start to complete the first phase completely before June.
The second phase of the project has not yet been tendered. It is the central part correspondente to ride the first line of Moll and with the participation of the Consell de Mallorca, to be paved. The second phase will include the empowerment of bike lanes and other improvements on the project.

And this is posted on FB by the UMP :-

VISION OF THE WORKS OF FRONTLINE. Councilman of Urbanism Tomeu Encrypt reviewed yesterday, early in the afternoon, the works of the Paseo Saralegui accompanied by his technical team of architects, the Rulers Miquel Angel Sureda and Andrew Nevado and manager of the construction company. During the inspection we could see printed samples pavement for sidewalks, proposed by a specialized company, and the new materials that will be placed along his path to embellish. After selecting the color printing and sidewalks proceeded to check the progress of each of the work in progress. Tomeu Encrypt confirms that the timetable adopted in the bid determines that the work will last six months and, therefore, is expected to end on May 9, that adding the 15 days of work stoppage during Easter It brings us to May 24. It is anticipated that the open sections are completed for SS, including new lighting walk, to date interim lights will be installed. Encrypt mentioned that during Holy Week the works will stand and the area will be as clean as the progress of the work permit, and recalls that the duration of the work of the tender approved is 6 months. The team of previous government had accepted a bid of 8 months. Responsible for the installation of stamped pavement tells us that his work rate is very high, with a minimum average of 500 m2 per day, and calculating the area between the roundabout and street Elcano Rock Engineer requires approximately 10 working days.

Wow they are big slabs, you can see why it wont take them long once they start laying them!!

So will there just be a wide walkway ?

Not very good at this sort of thing but will it be one wide walkway from the roundabout to Tamarells?

Scotslizzy

No, paths both sides, on the sea side of the road will be the 2 way bicycle lane and path much the same width as it is now, and the other side, wider path on the shop side up to the bridge, then parking on this side all along also with slightly wider path, I think!! :)

Thanks

Looks a right mess now and might cause problems for those with apartments along this stretch?

The clear photo's would suggest that there are three (largish) samples of coloured cast concrete together with a sample of a decent looking, decent quality buff paving slab.
Not sure how they'll stand up to any delivery lorries that might pop their two nearside wheels on when delivering to shops. Don't know if there is access for all deliveries to be made from the rear or not? If the coloured concrete slab areas are to be reinforced or their sub-base is reinforced they stand more chance of survival. Overall we will have to wait and see how the sample materials are to be used - unless there is anyone out there with insider knowledge regarding the works. Other than that, it is progress. We look forward with positive anticipation. Hope it all comes good for the sake of PP, its businesses, its residents and its visitors.

Talking to locals it appears they haven't decided on the final colour but the concrete will be poured, levelled, coloured and textured as a continuous strip hence the rapid rate.

They seem to have rattled on over the past few days completing in fill paths and walkways prior to the concrete pouring, also making great efforts to remove all the rubble.

I think it looks worse than it really is and should see the major part finished in time for Easter..

I don't think it will be finished by Easter, please see post #267 ;).

Good to hear all the chat again re the front.

The authorities owe it to everyone( mainly the visitors who will be spending their money here at Easter) ( & who might or might not return again) & to the local businesses whose future prosperity depends on PP looking better than before when the tourists come here this Easter.
It would be outrageous if everything is not in place by easter week.

Sorry about all the brackets

From reading the report by the council I don't think it will be slabs but stamped concrete, which is much quicker to lay.
