I think from the plans there is a parking bay for deliveries just by here which may explain why its wider there, then it goes down to about half that if you look at the other pictures

Apparently one of, if not the main reason, work has been slow is because the building company put most of the employees on the dole so as not to have to pay them over the Christmas and New Year period, when they would have been off quite a few days anyway.

Seems that it is now back to business, and there is money in the bank to pay for it.

Wow, have just looked at the web cam up at tamarells. They are certainly good at the descruction side of things.With the Pavment & the road kerbs now up all the way to as far as tamarells they have certainly given themselves a mighty task to complete "whatever stage 1 is " by end march 2016.

I would be great if stage 1 is finished by the end of March. We come out 3rd of April for ten days, would be great to cycle into town on the new surface.

Not very good at this sort of thing but will it be one wide walkway from the roundabout to Tamarells?

No, paths both sides, on the sea side of the road will be the 2 way bicycle lane and path much the same width as it is now, and the other side, wider path on the shop side up to the bridge, then parking on this side all along also with slightly wider path, I think!!

They have access at all times, i know it's a mess now but you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs .

Wow they are big slabs, you can see why it wont take them long once they start laying them!!

The clear photo's would suggest that there are three (largish) samples of coloured cast concrete together with a sample of a decent looking, decent quality buff paving slab.
Not sure how they'll stand up to any delivery lorries that might pop their two nearside wheels on when delivering to shops. Don't know if there is access for all deliveries to be made from the rear or not? If the coloured concrete slab areas are to be reinforced or their sub-base is reinforced they stand more chance of survival. Overall we will have to wait and see how the sample materials are to be used - unless there is anyone out there with insider knowledge regarding the works. Other than that, it is progress. We look forward with positive anticipation. Hope it all comes good for the sake of PP, its businesses, its residents and its visitors.

Talking to locals it appears they haven't decided on the final colour but the concrete will be poured, levelled, coloured and textured as a continuous strip hence the rapid rate.

They seem to have rattled on over the past few days completing in fill paths and walkways prior to the concrete pouring, also making great efforts to remove all the rubble.

I think it looks worse than it really is and should see the major part finished in time for Easter..

Good to hear all the chat again re the front.

The authorities owe it to everyone( mainly the visitors who will be spending their money here at Easter) ( & who might or might not return again) & to the local businesses whose future prosperity depends on PP looking better than before when the tourists come here this Easter.
It would be outrageous if everything is not in place by easter week.

From reading the report by the council I don't think it will be slabs but stamped concrete, which is much quicker to lay.
