As I previously mentioned, I was told by the site foreman that this year they will get to and stop at Llenaire where the Hotel Galeon is.

There were no if's or but's.

Apparently from La Gola the work will be far easier as there are not as many shops and bars where water had to be connected again, etc etc.

Will try and find out more, as generally, the people in the know are the people doing doing the work.

Except in my household.

So you already knew the answer to you previous question then, i think you are trying to wind me up Molt ;).

Not in the slightest : )

I honestly have no idea up to where the refurbishment of the paseo or sea road is supposed to get up to.

I hope the town hall does.

As many of you are aware Colin uses a mobility scooter to get about.
This afternoon he had a trip down the new pavement and was very impressed with the work so far, he said the ride was very smooth and looks really good :D.

But and it's a big but, all was great until he got to the Bar Imperial corner and found he couldn't go any further as there is no dropped kerb . This is a major oversight .

Talking about how long it has taken to get to where we are now, just looked back to the start of this thread, it is dated 18/02/13, three years to the day!

Funnily enough I mentioned this problem to the site manager. He said that as soon as everything is finished they will have a better idea of where exactly to put all the slopes. At that moment their main objective was to get ahead as fast as possible and to attend to the details later.

One would sincerely hope that a Spanish Version of The Disabled Persons Act should be in place, they being part of the European Community. It would be a GREAT PITY if the semi-pedestrianisation was truly spoilt because of the lack of viable disabled access. Perhaps this should be brought to the attention of The Mayor / Council / Contractors / EEC (if they are giving grant monies towards the project) before the works get too far. It is important to both Locals and Visitors alike. Over the years many posts on this excellent forum relate to accommodation, transport (mainly taxis), general access to facilities, etc., including the beaches.
It is only good that Colin's trip out on his 'mobility scooter' has drawn some attention to this point - and it is no small point at all.
I can only wish well to Colin and anyone else (it could be any of us!) on their daily trips around PP and indeed the rest of Mallorca.
I hope that someone in a position to do something about securing correct disabled access throughout the new works reads this post - as I say above, it is important!

I often read FB posts by the main opposition parties here and they are very much on the ball with what isn't working. For example, a few weeks ago we had a problem with the new street lighting, it had been off for several days, i sent a FB message to the UMP, had a reply within the hour and the next day the lights were back on :D. So hopefully they will be able to get results on this issue.

There is a general issue with access on the paths highlighted on FB in the port and the town, lots of pictures of missing drop down curbs, road signs in the middle of the paths just to name a few, but its great to hear them putting things right when they are reported.

This morning I was in the town hall and mentioned this problem to the lady who is in charge of the project.

She is fully aware of the lack of provision for wheel chairs and mobility scooters etc, but, like the site foreman, told me that they will do something about it at the end of the season, as doing it now is very time consuming and also difficult as the cement hasn´t hardened sufficiently to start removing it to replace it with non slip tiles on the slopes. She drew me a diagram on how they are going to go about it, so obviously it´s in the planners plan.

Another thing she told me, and this came as a surprise, is that the road will be TWO way from the roundabout up to the entrance to the Stay restaurant and ONE way from Llenaire down to the port.

Neither really......think you're busy enough wandering the streets of PP!

While used to walking around the streets of the port it became a whole new ballgame when I had to use a wheelchair for the last week of hols in January..you become very aware of access problems and even have to plan which streets are easiest to use..lets hope it gets sorted asap as it is vital for residents and holiday makers alike who have mobility problems 😟

In that case, maybe Sparky could organise a "sticky" so that anyone who has mobility issues can make them known and said information could be transmitted to the powers that be.

Not just wheelchairs but pushchairs too - we had a double buggy which weighed a ton and it was almost impossible to get it up some of the pavements in PP and the old town. Hopefully this issue will be remedied - it sounds promising.

Not sure if anyone else has commented on this but I actually really like the way they have embedded (appropriately) seashell shapes into the concrete all the way along to give it some texture - once it looks a bit less new and grey I think it will really enhance the look of the area.

Oh my goodness,

I have just looked at the webcam. The pavement has now been dug up 100 m past tamarelles towards LLenaire.

Approx 1 month to easter and I do not see any finished pavement / road on the town side on the webcam.

I am now concerned , can anyone put me at ease !

The fact that someone has signed of a completion date sometime in May will be of no comfort to visitors over easter or the may weekend.

I've been watching this thread with interest as I'm sure many have. We owned property in PP for nearly 20 years and there certainly always has been a "manana" attitude to most aspects of work by everyone there.
However normally everything gets done well and so I'm sure that we can relax a bit and all have a lovely time next time we visit. Just mind your steps after a few glass of vino!!!

I forgot to mention a big thank you to whoever cleans the web cam.

A few days ago after wind & rain it was filthy, now its pristine.

A good job , many thanks
